All we need in Stocksbridge - a damn dead person who was stupid enough to get themselves buried under the pavement!? jollyroger 13-06-2005, 15:30 Apperently their was a graveyard on the site many moons ago, according to some old dear, who has dug out some photos, Mystery solved, or has it ?????????????????? Strix 13-06-2005, 15:32 Awwww, no hyperlink for photo's then? :( SHarper 13-06-2005, 15:35 Does it belong to the rowing club on Dam Flask? Twiglet 13-06-2005, 15:36 Hehehehe cue: Calling in county archaeologist to look at site, then grave clearance company (the *fairly*quick but totally immoral option) or archaeologists to relocate graves (maybe takes a couple of weeks). Hope they weren't planning to get it finished too soon. She knows everything! Fluff 14-06-2005, 10:01 Just wondered if anyone knows anything about the body that was apparently unearthed during the excavations for the new shopping precinct - was there a graveyard there in the past ? Being new to the area I just wondered what was there before the shops were built! someone mentioned that there was possibly a church and graveyard? Janet Olsen 14-06-2005, 10:48 Metalman I KNOW Stocksbridge was once inhabited by humans being born there myself fifty five years ago, whats even more interesting is that tracing back my ancestry, I can go back to the 17th century of relatives ALL being born in Stocksbridge & living there until they died......perhaps the remains belong to me?
