Its called the Credit Crunch (and Pub Company greed).....shocking as it is, I do estimate another 75 pubs+ in Sheffield will go before Summer, things are grim.....I hope I am wrong in my predictions but I fear I am not........so support your locals, they need you now more than ever!

It happens all the time once the ladlords realise they are being charged n unmanageable rent.

They open up a few months later when the next mug signs on the dotted line.

Note on door confirming that it has closed. Not taking enough to cover costs, according to the notice.

Millhouses has gone? So that leaves millhouses with the wagon, robinhood and prince of wales. Don't know how many of those I'd consider boozing in.

They're opening again on Saturday - under new management. Ember Inn, no doubt!

There are 3 pubs within about half a mile at millhouses and sadly I dont think there is the trade to support it.

Robin is my pick not bad for an Ember.

I went past today. It was closed but not boarded up.

Ember Inns don't own the Cherry, it's another pub company, forgot the name but they'll just put some other poor soul in and rob them blind with the rent. I know I shouldn't say it, but I give the new tenants 6 months, they'll just not be able to make it pay with the high rent they get charged plus the extortionate prices they have to pay for the beer. Pub companys like the ones that own the Cherry, Millhouses ect are not breweries, they are greedy landlords who are not interested in selling beer, just collecting rent.

Ember Inns are all managed houses with the same concept, ie Robin Hood, Prince of Wales, Hare & Hounds. Hence they don't have tenants, they have managers who get a salary.

Well if it is, they'll have to close it for a massive refurb to make it the more or less the same as all the other Ember Inns around the area. I don't mind Ember Inns, it's always a nice atmosphere, the food is good value and the price of drinks aren't bad.

How do you know it's Ember Inns if you don't mind me asking?

Its not, its enterprise, my brothers good friends with the old landlord and co.

Cherry Tree looked open last night when I drove past.

The food there is good, nothing spectacular just good honest home cooked stuff. The landlord was in the meat trade so knows his meats.

Been past the Millhouses today and it was open, new people I presume, just like the Cherry.

Many years ago I remember the cherry tree being a really busy pub always remember that big semi circle being full of people enjoying a drink.

Last time I went in there (admittedly more than a year ago...) most of the clientele appeared to be well under the legal drinking age.

I can confirm the Cherry Tree is now open.

New hosts are Richard and Jane.

It's got to tell us something when pubs are having to give food away to get drinkers in! The likes of JD Wetherspoons won't be happy until they have driven all the small pub businesses out.

Maybe the call was worth more than the 30p he was making on your 1 pint.

I was buying a round so you should make that about 90p
Anyway, its the last 90p he makes out of me.

In the scheme of his future debt I doubt he will care.

its not the 30p he makes on that 1 pint, its the 30p he would make on subsequent pints he would sell you if you kept going back in, which the poster obviously won't. i hate bad service!

Oh I agree, but people need to realise your pub landlord needs more than one pie to keep afloat. I wouldn't care personally for a 1 min wait.

My father and I must have been some of the first in the Cherry when it opened 40 odd years ago. Rumour had it , the landlords came on a push bike and left in a Rolls!! It was two rooms then, the characters were in 'tap room' side, had some good nights in there! Happy days, but haven't been in for years
