I am going to make a Gathered Pullover (http://www.interweaveknits.com/galleries/bonus/winter2007/jason.asp)from Interweave Knits, but want to make it longer and add some waist shaping. It is knit mostly in the round which means that the shaping needs to be done well (if it was flat I would have just decreased at the seams) and Im not too sure of the best way to do this to make it look nice - so hopefully someone on here can help :D
From looking at the schematic, I need to make the second size for the top (172 stitches) and the third size to make sure it goes round my ample hips (192 stitches) - so this means that I need to lose 20 stitches probably over 5 inches worth of stocking stitch (its knit bottom up). Is it best to evenly space out around the circumference when decreasing to make sure there are no obvious lines or would you still do the decreasing at the edges where a seam would have been if it had been knit flat - is there a proper way or better way to do this? :help:
