A section dedicated to pensioners, the elderly or silver surfers as they are termed. I feel quite sure that for a lot of elderly people living alone it must be a lonely existence. A section focussed in this way would open up opportunities for many. It could be your grandparents, your parents and eventually you.
But I think we integrate quite well as it is...do we really need to be put in a little pen all on our own :hihi:

I am not YET a pensioner but like Joan
I see no need for a special thread just for
the Silver Surfers.
That would be like having a town full
of pensioners wouldnt it.
The forum is like life.
We all mix together and sometimes
discuss things and sometimes have a laugh.
Im sure its what keeps most people young

I agree, I'm not ready for a virtual retirement home quite yet. ;) I'd also suggest that by using the internet perhaps we oldies have a bit of a different outlook to those who don't use it?
I totally agree with Joan.....I for one would not like to have only "silver" conversations.
That's like saying don't talk to anyone of a different generation.
How boring for them as well as us not to hear how others feel.
I could see a use for a group similar to the disability and carers group where there are issues specific to those of a certain age who may want some 'protection' from the nonsensical (read 'trolling') posts that go on on the main boards, but for that to become reality Geoff will require a solid reason for its existence, with suggestions for what function it will perform and who will benefit and HOW
I like the fact that age is pretty difficult to spot here - if you don't want to give it away!
I like the levelling effect a text based forum has - enabling people of all ages, and backgrounds to share their thoughts without the automatic prejudice we all have in real life - assessing people's age, clothes, hairstyle, accent... before we decide whether we will listen to what they have to say
I've met a number of people considerably older than myself thanks to sharing the same views on threads here - and got on like a house on fire thank you :)
Oh, and btw - the groups aren't supposed to be little cults where 'members' are 'chosen', so any teenager who has a view on pensioner services is entitled to an opinion too - and should not be hounded out!
