I think it was the "city centre living" bubble bursting.

I heard what sounded like a massive firework going off at the bottom of Ecclesall Road around 4pm. Maybe it was that..

we were on Church Street so it probably sounded louder to us but it was about 4pm so that must have been the same thing

I live on west street and i heard it extremely loudly. My windows were open, i looked out and could see a bit puff of smoke above that building site near sharkeys.. I think it may have been a firework.. not sure if it was too loud for a firework though...

That does sound like an option. We looked for smoke but couldn't see any

I was in work at Moorfoot with the window shut and it was a very loud bang.

My g/f was driving to pick me up from the ofice and was on Uni roundabout with her window down when it went off, she said she nearly drove into another car it made her jump so much. And other drivers were similarly affected.

I reckon there's a good half a mile between these two locations, and it appeared to be loud in both.

Okay, it could have been in-between our locations, but that means it would still be around a 1/4 of a mile form each of us.

strange that nobody seems to know what it was or that there hasn't been any mention of it on the radio even though we all agree it was very loud!

More like the sound of the penny dropping in Heeley when they realised city-centre living is in fact the future ;-)

I didn't hear it myself as I wasn't around town yesterday but I noticed that a building had been completed demolished on Corporation Street that was there on Friday could it have been that because I would imagine that they would do that at the weekend to avoid disrupting the traffic too much?

I wonder if that is part of the Inner ring road instead?

Thanx Rich, but on planet "Zog" where i live, we are 2 days ahead of you mere "Mortals" So today in your world it is Tuesday, here it is Thursday so yesterday was 3 days ago and tomorrow is 2 days ahead, so when the quote said "Yesterday" it should have been today.

I know you mortals are not all that bright so I make allowances.

Hope that saves confusion Rich.

Catch you all tomorrow (2 days ago)
