I am going to see a flat in Ranmoor later today but i know nothing about the place. What's it like?

Nice and expensive

The place is very nice with great views, it's the people who live there that are the problem, they can be the most pretentious people you could ever meet.

I like it, before my aunt and uncle moved down to south Kent, they were in Ranmoor - Endcliffe Hall Avenue, I believe.

But for quality, you do have to pay out...

Ranmoor is very nice, leafy, lots of stone mansions, low crime, etc. The only thing I don't like about it are that a lot of the developments of apartments from, I believe, the 1960s are less than aesthetically pleasing.

I bought a house in Ranmoor a few months ago and knew very little about the area at the time. I now love it. It seems so safe and has some useful amenities such as Threshers. I also love the Ranmoor Tandoori which is excellent and cheap.
Whilst those that i've met on my street seem nice enough, it is true that there are some stuck up people in Ranmoor, particularly the clientele in West 10 wine bar (apologies if I'm offending anyone). I stick with the Bulls Head and Ranmoor Inn now.
A slight worry about the area is the proposed new Student Village which looks to be bringing more students to Ranmoor. I'm not bothered by that in itself, its the knock on effect on house prices that concerns me.
All in all, I'd thoroughly recommend Ranmoor as a decent place to live.

I think the flat we went to see was one of the 60's looking apartments that t020 was talking about. It certainly looked like it anyway.

The area looked nice enough but the flat itself wasn't that good for the money they were asking. £625 pcm for basically a 2 bedroomed appartment that although had a nice kitchen was otherwise unchanged since it was probably built. It didn't even have a washing machine so we decided it wasn't right for us.

Ranmoor is a really nice area, but pricey. Sorry that AaronD was disappointed with the flat he viewed.

Now for real value for money, try the new Queens Tower development at Norfolk Park. Listed building, £500 rent p.c. month. Beautiful historic listed park nearby, excellent tram and bus connections. Very desirable, up and coming location.

No.

we lived in Ranmoor when i was a teenager, on Storth Lane, it was a Northern counties flat and i can honestly say we were very very happy there for many years we loved it , and our neighbours weren't snobs they were nice people we never had any trouble, i'd go back tomorrow.

Ranmoor is lovely, nice area very chilled and there may be a few people up there own arses but very non threaten and better reviews than the manor

frequent, and fairly reliable bus service round there, (first no 60 service and stagecoach no 120 has been extended to ranmoor IIRC, check on S yorks traveline 01709 515151 fr times and coverage)

it is well reported that it is the second wealthiest area in uk behind chelsea and kensington

i nkow you ve not moved and this post is 4 years old but i just want to defend my lil area :) i live in one of the "upperclass posh huge houses" up the road from teh ranmoor inn. my parents and family arent stck up and no one around us is!!!! lol
its also very very safe :)
