hi its my little boys birthday sat and he loves animals and was thinking about taking him to an animal park or zoo i no graves park have a little animal park but he goes there all the time, can anyone tell me if theres anywhere not to far out of sheffield where there is a zoo or animal park??? or where is the nearest one?

hi thanks for your reply , we have been there quite a few times to :D its great but just wondered if there was something with more animals it doesnt matter if its out of sheffield

I don't think there is. I head for the places mentioned (butterfly house, Graves) but there's nothing else outside of the usual 'farmyard' setting. I think the nearest is Twycross Zoo - roughly 1 1/2 hrs away.

Hi Wentworth Garden Centre has a animal farm where you can buy food and feed the animals plus a play area really nice for young children:)

If you can get out there, the Chestnut Centre otter and owl sanctuary at Chapel en le Frith has lots of animals (even polecats!) and is well worth a look. I go there every now and then and don't even have kids as an excuse! They have a website which says what's there, when it's open, etc

riber castle in matlock used to have a zoo but you'd have to check if it's still there as i haven't been in about 20yrs
