I've just got Firefox 3 and when I try to load the web page to log in to my email I keep getting this message -

"Too many outstanding unauthenticated requests from your IP address, wait for them to complete, then try again."

I don't know what it means! And I need to check my emails!

Can anyone help?

There have been a load of login attempts from your IP address that have failed. The webmail client is refusing to allow authentication for a bit. It's a security thing.

Forget about logging in for an hour, run all your anti virus scans now. May be that something is trying to auto login to your webmail in the background.

Thanks Dafoot.

I had windows messenger running on windows until this morning. When I installed Firefox 3 this morning it asked if I wanted to make it the default browser (presumably it meant messenger, but at the time I just assumed it meant for web browsing generally) - so maybe it's got something to do with that?

Should I do something with messenger that might sort it out?

I'm more than a little incompetent when it comes to computers so sorry if this is a really silly question!

Firefox doesn't have a messenger component, it won't have affected MSM Messenger.

As Cyclone says, as far as I know FF3 does not have (by default) any component that should affect your messenger program. Firefox is a web browser, not an IM (instant messenger) client.

Please do run a full system scan using whatever antivirus software you have (make sure it's up to date first).

Ok will do. Many thanks. I just signed out of messenger by the way and then it let me load the email page.
