Ha Ha right by the Peace Gardens is very nice food and you can't get more central than that! A tiny bit further out is the Ivory, just off the top end of Division Street which is REALLY nice but a bit pricier too...

The Milestone at Kelham Island. Went again on Friday and it was absolutely spot on again. Best place to eat in Sheffield by far.

Don't eat at the HA HA bar, it's not as bad as it used to be but it is pretty crap still.

Really?!! I've eaten there several times over the last few years (most recently about a month ago) and have always found the food fresh, tasty and interesting (lamb with blackberries was a particular winner last time) and service not bad at all.
Have never been to Silversmiths but I presume they've picked their game up since being shouted at by Gordon Ramsay!!

Wyexile, I agree completely about the Milestone, my favourite restaurant in Sheffield too!! The only reason I didn't mention it in my first post is that in my mind Kelham Island doesn't count as city centre which roughy101 specifically said they wanted. I agree though, it is superb and well worth the taxi fare!!

I like cafe Rouge near haha bar, always had a great meal there.

Also BB's on Division street is nice and you can take your own wine even at the weekend. San Remo on Division street is nice too and La Gondala just round the courner.
