View Full Version : Catcliffe Boozers: What are they like? Lindos 12-06-2005, 17:05 Movin to Catcliffe soon, anyone know the pubs there? Yes I know its not realy Sheffield.... Strix 12-06-2005, 17:11 I'd be surprised if you didn't get a useful answer though Lindos And there's an outside chance it will be from somebody posting in the States! Gingerbarf 12-06-2005, 18:20 to be quite honest the pubs in Catcliffe aren't that clever there's three in total The Plough we looked into buying this after it flood it was done up nicely but the weekend it reopened there was none stop fighting then there's the red lion not the nicest decorated pub nice atmosphere but too occasional trouble. there is also the Riverside thats more of a club than pub but too think that is known for its trouble So it's either Brinsworth which too has trouble in some pubs or it's Handsworth but not sure what it's like up there?? jessycar 12-06-2005, 19:17 You've Handsworth, Treeton, Aston, Swallownest and Aughton all very near by if you don't fancy the Catcliffe ones mentioned. Meaks 14-06-2005, 23:09 You love dirty low boozers Lindos... :D So no problems really  belperite 15-06-2005, 11:40 Looks like the back garden and half an oil drum then eh ;) sheffbag 16-06-2005, 11:30 Where in Brinsworth is there trouble? Gingerbarf 20-06-2005, 18:45 The Atlas- The Sidings- occasionally the 3 Magpies i think the terrier has calmed down alot over the last 2-3 yrs the Waverly is a family pub dont hear of much bother in there and the Fairways is full of elderly people so not much trouble in there.. malb1 21-06-2005, 22:01 I was wondering the same, thinking of moving to that area - Treeton and didnt think they had any pubs, saw the Plough in Catcliffe though. Went for a drink in Catcliffe last nigh - a pub called The Washington - I think, dont quote me on it though, seemed nice from the outside, nice outdoor area, but bit of an old mans pub inside. Its near the new estate that you can see on your left hand side as you drive towards the M1 from Sheff. sheffbag 22-06-2005, 07:07 i live opposite terier and can honestly say only seen one bit of trouble in last 2 years i have lived there. No trouble in sidings - then again no one goes in sidings to have trouble with - never known a p[ub die so quickly. Cant comment on Atlas as never been in Waverley - i never feel welcome in there for some reason, might just be me but whenever we go with the kids always get feeling of "you aint in our clique so leave". the pub has lot of potential with the field at the back but since taken the play things down and just blows up a mucky bouncy castle its eliminated a lot of poss custom for families IMO valentine 22-06-2005, 11:09 Do Ron and Lorraine still own the Waverley? Gingerbarf 26-06-2005, 01:30 Ron Woodthorpe (Woody) yes own's the Waverley he leave's the running of the place to the management now and sticks to selling beer through the barrel not the pump! The Terrier is a good place to go now yes Sheffbag i often go on a saturday for karaoke the dj who does it is a good friend, the reason there is no trouble in there now is because the idiot's were barred from the atlas so went in there but now they go back in Atlas, they still frequent the Sidings though along with a few other Village Idiots(if that makes sense) lol PhilMurray 26-06-2005, 09:20 took my dog in the red lion in catcliffe once........took me ages to scrub him clean later! come to the fairways i'll buy you half melthebell 26-06-2005, 11:15 i remember going to catcliffe with an old mate once........he lived there..........all i remember was an old knackered red phone box with no door, windows or phone in it........just stood in the middle of nowhere |
