Merc Man 10-01-2009, 19:12 Hi All
As above I would like to connect my laptop to my TV screen. As it'll be a faster mean then other media and burning CD's etc.
These are the ports currently available on my laptop: PORT PICTURE (http://www.notebookreview.com/assets/18105.jpg)
So if anyone has any quick and fast solution please feel free
to reply
Thank You In Advance
neeeeeeeeeek 10-01-2009, 19:17 Not exactly sure what the "As it'll be a faster mean then other media and burning CD's etc." means but you need to post a pic of the connections on the TV. If it has a 15vin blue one like the laptop then you just need a 15pin VGA cable.

The TV has a 15pin VGA Cable just like the laptop.. so if I get a male to male VGA Cable.. it should allow me to view the screen and the sounds on the TV screen?
No the sound will need to be hooked up to your tv seperately vga is visual only.
I believe for your sound you will require a 3.5mmjack to phono lead.
neeeeeeeeeek 10-01-2009, 19:23 No sound, you will need to a mini jack - mini jack / 2 phono's depending on what audio input the TV has.
Then on the laptop press FN F4 or what ever F key has a picture of a monitor on it.
:)

Do not buy from pc world. They rape people, especially on cables for some reason. Most decent shops would give them away/practically give 'em away. Maplins are pricey too.
Merc Man 10-01-2009, 19:39 What about this lead neeeeeeeeeek: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-HDMI-HDTV-to-VGA-HD15-Y-Pb-Pr-3-RCA-Adapter-Cable_W0QQitemZ220341410234QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_C omputing_CablesConnectors_RL?hash=item220341410234&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1300|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A13 18
neeeeeeeeeek 10-01-2009, 19:40 You can probably get them in Maplins but htey will at the usual £3 Maplin tax!

LOL I went in to find out what lead I required, so I could buy it elsewhere.. but instead they started telling me their whole floor pricing list :)

I guess that would work! I just use the the 15pin blue one on my TV, it comes up as PC when you select the source, never even thought about using the HDMI connector but guess it would work! Don't quite me tho.
:)
Merc Man 10-01-2009, 19:45 nope not that'n
How comes Dave?

Cheers neeeeeeeeeek :)
sorry that one might work if you've got an hdmi slot on your telly (can't say I know much about HD and tellys) That cable wouldn't be able to transfer the sound though as you don't have phono sockets on your laptop.
Best getting the cable nee...eek linked for the audio and a male to male 15 pin vga cable for yer visual.
Merc Man 10-01-2009, 20:02 So lets see if I got this right..
If I connect THIS (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/3-5mm-To-2-RCA-Audio-Y-Cable-Lead-For-PC-Laptop-MP3-MP4_W0QQitemZ370126590437QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Com puting_CablesConnectors_RL?hash=item370126590437&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1301|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A13 18) to the headphone socket in my laptop and the other to the TV. I should have the laptops sound coming out from the TV?
Also If I connect THIS (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Gold-Plated-VGA-Monitor-Cable-Male-To-Male-SVGA-Lead-3m_W0QQitemZ190273637869QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Comp uting_CablesConnectors_RL?hash=item190273637869&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1300|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A13 07) I should get the visual picture...
Take it thats the correct procedure?

Yep!
You might have to turn the screen resolution of the laptop down depending on the max res of the TV.

Merc Man 10-01-2009, 20:33 Thank You Once Again Gentlemen And I Hope You Both Enjoy What Remains Of Your Night :)
You too, enjoy the telly - let us know if you have any issues.
try a local poundland they stock certain cables .
neeeeeeeeeek 11-01-2009, 16:06 Saw one of the audio leads in TX max, upstairs at the tills. It was £2.99
:)
ebuyer i would have thought would be good for all the cables here. + they are extremely cheap when compared to Price Cheat World (im off to bed now, that was terrible)
just search on www.ebuyer.com for what you need. VGA cable, etc and you will find everything there easily enough
