View Full Version : How to get extra income into Hillsborough
With all the recent comings and goings at s6
The new board may be open to suggestions
I’ve seen a few good ideas on owls talk,
But not seen this one.
Get in touch with Dennis Hobson
And let’s stage a huge international boxing match
Shared gate receipts, share of profits from food, drinks, TV rights ECT
This could bring in a fair wedge for future transfer dealings,
But more importantly put swfc back on the map.
What better way to ring in the recent changes.
Let’s not think small like we have in the past, let’s start to think bigger.
Anyone else got any ideas?
This current regime will take note of fans comments, ideas and take them on board.

how much do you think it would make after wages.
also fight would have to be on the pitch , under cover .

tv rights alone are worth the best part of £15m
gate recipts ( say average £30 a head x 40,000 =£1.2m
food drink ect ? anyones guess, but a lot more than a normal match day.
wednesdayite car parking over the road, share of profits to the club as well.
a boxing ring is not hard to cover, as for the rest of the ground, everyone is used to watching football in the rain , so no big problems there,

so after all the micky taking a football stadium boxing match is not a bad idea,

if so it would be hillsborough lol

I don't think the idea of having a boxing match at a football stadium is too ground breaking e.g. Ricky Hatton at Eastlands.
I think it's your maths that were been mocked, 40k for a fight just isn't going to happen.
Wednesday would benefit from the rent of the stadium but not much else.
Dennis Hobbs isn't a charity you know.

We tried pig fighting at hillsborough last October.
And the pigs we fought were a viscious bunch, resorting to all manner of animal like behaviour. Some even got into a spot of bother for it:
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/article1828879.ece
But, as usual, we won in the end, and decided we needed more challenging opposition.
I do believe the pigs in question went on to perform more pig fighting a few weeks later in Barnsley, where further gotesque animal behaviour was on display. Fortunately for them they got away with it that time.
BTW - I see BJ is back on his usual form now that he's not banned any more:

is this a spelling mistake or an attempt to say we are thick:o
SYorksDeano 10-01-2009, 11:54 A decent football team, that would get you some income:thumbsup:
Sheffield Wednesday could also follow the route that Bradford City took 2 years ago with season ticket offers. Yet again Bradford have won an award for the best priced season tickets in the country.
Yes ok we may be League 2, but £138 for a season isn't a bad price. Other clubs tried it this year (Huddersfield for 1) but they left it till the last minute. If Bradford can get on average 12500 just for a League 2 home game imagine what Wednesday could do
