It is also near the old niche nightclub.

BEGINNERS CLASSES are:
MONDAY/THURSDAY 830-930pm

need a bit of help after many years of training & many broken bones im having to wrap my hands especialy my thumbs with medical precision, what im after is large rolls of boxing tape, the stuff you can buy in the shops is expensive & comes in small rolls i get through loads of it.

And the sign will also say KNOX Boxing gym.
You will see a blue door, the door is usually open. Go up the stairs and you will find the gym.

the instructer said we could buy our own gloves if we wanted to which i do but i know it sounds daft which kind should i get?

Whats the classes like i dont mean to sound rude but i did mua thai for a month or so , i was really gettin into it but felt out of place as there was so many there the room we trained in was packed and my personal opinion not enough 1 to 1 as much as i loved it , i was going on my own so after a while i felt like i wasnt goin anyfurther apart from the weight droppin of me. I think my problem is i like to feel involved with group instead of stood at bk of a room listening and tryin to see what instructor is showin all the class . Any how think yer got mi drift ,watchin feedback as i may join you down there .

Re: Packed out , you wont get that here LOL , its only a small gym so you get plenty of one to one time (without having to pay extra for private lessons).
The instruction up here is such that ANY simple mistake is corrected almost straight away.
Stood at the back of the room? You dont get that either. There is usually 2 instructors in the class anyway.
Either me or mark and either Saj, Rachel or Big Andy.
Come along and see for yourself. Nunu has been down again since her first visit.

Loved those combinations we were doing especially the one's with the back kicks in.

Looking forward to the grading too, have to start getting plenty of practise in now, want to make sure i pass with flying colours. :thumbsup:

the longer your there the further up the class you get. STICK AT IT! Muay Thai is the BEST sport in the world by FAR. i'm Intermediate 2 going to take Intermedite 3 next month.. STICK AT IT

Thankfully not too big . If the classes were too big they simply would not fit in the gym!
There is nearly always 2 instructors per class at a time.
Either myself and Big Andy, myself and Rachel or Mark and Rachel/Mark and Big Andy (well you get the picture LOL).
The advanced fighters or higher grades (purple belt and above) always make sure they help the beginners out by holding pads or just giving general advice. This makes AFK a very beginner friendly club.

Yes I know we have a reputation for turning out fighters but not everyone wants to go down that road (only 10% of our members will ever compete) .

Generally you can expect a class to have between 10 and 14 people in the beginners class at KNOX. 2 Instructors to 14 people is like saying an instructor to student ratio of 1:7.
That is why AFK students are generally well schooled and often have strong basic techniques even when they have not been training long.

We have literally had only ONE loss in the last 12 months!!! (and that was in the finals of a K-1 championship tournament by a very close decision).

AFK have also seen 2 new Genuine Kickboxing champions arise within their ranks.

AFK have also scored a Hatrick of a Hatrick in the same series of events.
(3 wins out of 3 wins 3 times over, do the maths , thats 9 wins!!! LOL)

Of course you can bring your own kickboxing kit with you. Makes a change from using everyone else's smelly gear ;)
Turns out I know a lot of people in your uni kickboxing club personally.
Example: Craig Jose and Ben Kenyon, etc? You obviously know them. I hear Sam Bhatt is a good kickboxer as well.

hehe well thats deff not me, i go to newcastle uni but live in sheff in the hols :) so lookin for somewhere to train when am bk

I definitely recomend this class, i havent been here that long but i have tried a lot of local clubs and find the service you get at this club makes it all the more worthwhile. U dont just get told to hit the bags you actually get taught HOW to punch and kick properly.

Hi farahd sorry i wasnt there yesterday something came up. can i book a private on sunday then ill turn up to the monday class (the half past eight beginners class of course not the fight training one)
