There fine pal....
We have one and he seems to be pretty happy. He likes to hide in the bogwood or behind the filter during the day and by night magically cleans the tank. He's cute!

Shouldn't be a problem.
Pleks (http://www.schillmania.com/photos/35mm/image/collection/at_home/pleco.jpg)also do the same job (plecostomus) although algae shouldn't be a massive problem if you don't overfill your tank, maintain the water correctly and don't overfeed.

I have 3 in each of my larger community tanks. Give them a nightly algae wafer and a chunk of blanched cucumber though, the algae itself isnt enough to sustain them.

Bristlenose are are definite for the community tank, just be aware that they do need bogwood to help them to digest their food. They do also like to eat courgette and other vegetables and also need spirulina tablets/wafers a coupla times a week. They don't however hoover up all the rubbish from the tank floor like it was once believed.
We've got LOADS of 'em, including the longfins :D
