How long are these works going to go on for?

The other day I noticed that the road was completely closed and even when it is open there are severe hold ups due to bulldozers blocking the road.

Closing this road causes huge traffic problems as vehicles are forced down to Rockingham street. The problem with this is that the traffic lights at the junction of Rockingham street/West street coming from Broad lane are prioritised so that they only let about 2 cars through and sometimes the lights sequence skips them out all together. It took me 15 minutes to get up Rockingham street the other morning. On top of the diversions for the Inner relief road this is a total nightmare.

They seem to be nearing completion with the dreaded road humps in place on Mappin Street now.

Looks like Mappin Street is going to be one-way (in to town only) on a permanent basis. They've built some new steps and a ramp outside the University building that stretches halfway across the old road.

One more escape route out of town blocked - that is really going to put pressure on St Georges Terrace (which is a right mess at the moment due to work outside old Jessops hospital).

And the need for speed bumps on either of these roads is beyond me - I've never seen anybody doing over 20mph on them for years.
