I think the novel was called centennial. It was an epic that started in pre-historic times and had a dinosaur in the first part, can anyone tell me the dinosaurs name?

Obviously no-one was interested:D but ........ I found out the name of the book WAS 'Centennial' ! It was made into a movie at some point but I can't find out much about that either:)

He wrote about the diplodocus but I don't remember him giving names to any of them.

I am not aware of Centennial being made into a film, but it was a very successful TV Series which I remember watching with great pleasure.

Aaaah.

At the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh is a diplodocus skeleton and/or life-size model which is nicknamed "Dippy"!!!

Possibly Michener linked the early dinosaur to the museum dinosaur or Mr Tulip is just connecting the two.
