View Full Version : Cold weather payments for Sheffield .... will we qualify? verydull 06-01-2009, 17:45 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7813987.stm anyone know if sheffield is one of the places affected? dull happyhippy 07-01-2009, 08:19 Well, Sheffield's temperature is decided by several different weather stations, so it becomes a bit of a post code lottery as to who would get a cold weather payment (hope you didn't mind me changing the title). In fact, this was mentioned on the winter fuel payment argu ...... thread(!). As far as I know, no areas of Sheffield are eligible for the cold weather payment at the moment. beansforyou 07-01-2009, 17:40 Sheffield has been triggered, there are links here to see the info you need, under 'Where the payouts have been triggered' http://www.channel4.com/news/articles/business_money/freeze+triggers+weather+payouts/2898277 TheBlueDragon 08-01-2009, 13:42 Ive recieved it verydull 08-01-2009, 14:08 when did you? Very useful! verydull 09-01-2009, 15:04 just FYI this was in the Star today.... http://www.thestar.co.uk/news/OAPs-out-in-the-cold.4859627.jp kidley 09-01-2009, 21:54 have i read this right if its plus five degrees in Sheffield and minus five in Nottingham Sheffield gets the cold weather payment verydull 09-01-2009, 21:56 yes, but generally cos sheffields higher... it works the other way... and only part of sheffield, cos part is covered by another weather station... kidley 09-01-2009, 22:04 I would have thought the size of Sheffield it would have its own weather station happyhippy 09-01-2009, 22:14 There are three stations for Sheffield post codes (I thought there were more actually), but the problem with Sheffield having its own, single, weather station is its topography. The hills everywhere change the temperatures and weather all over the city, which is why it doesn't work too well for Sheffield. sunblock 10-01-2009, 11:30 How much is it meant to be for? kidley 10-01-2009, 11:48 £25 thats for one hit FairyNormal 10-01-2009, 12:53 Is this just for people in reciept of pension credit?
