I'm in a 3 bed semi in Gleadless, the house has a single story extension to the side which contains a room plus a shower room.
Last weekend we were going to replace the carpet in the main room but found that the shower room (which is a wet room type) has leaked through where the edge of the floor meets the tiles. There is black damp rot coming through into the main room.
Because the extension is single story with a flat roof, it has very poor insulation hence is very cold most of the year so would prefer a shower upstairs. The roof needs replacing too.
A grander plan would be whether I could get a second story built above the extension, to contain a bedroom with onsuite shower room, which would be a much more usable layout.
Does anyone have any advice, know of a ball park figure for the work or any other suggestions?
Many thanks
Tom.
