I heard very briefly on radio news that there may be some plans to introduce two way charges on mobiles. Meaning the person who receives the call pays half of the charge.
Apparently this is how it's done in the States.
Personally I'm not keen on the idea, my mobile is more to receive calls from others and I don;t wish to pay for them, just because someone else may fancy a chat. I spend carefully on my mobile and have unlimited calls at a fixed price, on my landline so I don't have to worry on there.
I'm led to understand that the call tariffs are cheaper in the US, I can't imagine Uk networks reducing prices and then sharing tariffs.
If it goes how it sounds it will, I won't use a mobile anymore.
What does everyone else feel about it?

Imagine having to pay to receive the call with that robotic voice that says "Congratualtion, you have been selected to win a prize holiday in Florida ....."

I got her 3 times today!!!!!!

...... and it keeps the line blocked for a while as well!!!:suspect:

Am I wrong or weren't land lines charged when mobiles first came in, in the UK?
I remember someone who refused to talk to people who called from a mobile because of this.

It is a silly idea. Why should I pay for a decision someone else made? It already happens when you are roaming. Even if you let it go to voicemail as I found out. 70p for someone to leave a message that I didn't listed to until I got home. My phone wasn't even on! How is that fair?

Two way charges already exist if someone calls you from abroad mobile-to-mobile.
