I also don't understand Tiny's logic; why is it better to be listening on the radio at home no more than 30 minutes from the ground than listening to it in Canada? Surely if Canada was in Sheffield he'd be at the match supporting his team not making excuses about looking after the young ens.

good game, played fairly well and spurrs goal was worth the admission fee.think laws needs to re think putting jj up front, had a shocker, as always up front. surely boden would be a better option. not too fussed about going out, more inportant things than the cup.

Moving on from the general arguing here.

Wednesday tried their best today, but Fulham's quality showed through and we never looked like winning.

Depressing, but it's the truth.

NERVY-OWL
03-01-2009, 17:04
i dont know about that igm, i didnt think fulham looked that good, their fitness nearer the end i think showed through but had jj put his easiest chance away, it could of been completely different

Stockers
03-01-2009, 17:07
I think you've got to be happy, Wednesday had an understrength side out and looked like holding PL Fulham until the 88th minute.

I think the money from the next round would have come in very useful for Wednesday and you'll have to put up with what you've got in the loan market until the 1st March :)

NERVY-OWL
03-01-2009, 17:10
the cup is a hiderence anyway, ok the money would of come in handy but it wouldnt of got us a new player just more injuries maybe. we didnt pick up anymore so thats a bonus, at least now we can just concentrate on the league

Today we gave a decent Premiership side a run for there money and with better finishing from JJ we may have still been in the hat.It was always going to be a difficult game even without the injuries.

Defencively we coped very well against Johnson and Zamora.Wood especially. The midfield struggled a bit i thought.Murphy and Dempsey were too good for McAllister and O'Conner.Dempsey was excellent at breaking forward and had a few good chances to score.Boden and Small had decent first halfs but faded a bit at the end.JJ isn't a striker and missed at least 2 very good chances. The cut back from Jeffers the worst of them.He also faded away, justifiable considering he's not kicked a ball for weeks.Jeffers is still looking for his first of the season and missed a couple of half chances and a very good one at the death. When he's going to score i don't know.

Performance wise it was much improved on previous weeks and Fulham are a good side but i still feel we can do better than we are.We are guilty of wasting chances and some times pick the wrong option. We are simply treading water until the alleged takeover.

Finally Tommy Spurr is a player every supporter wants to be.He plays his heart out for the team and his goal today was something special. He struggled when he first got into the side and for a while was the weak link but he's shown some real bottle and is now a player that lifts the crowd and inspires the team.
He's in danger of becoming a legend.

NERVY-OWL
03-01-2009, 19:34
that sounds about right. the midfield, certainly sometime before the second goal just seemed to vanish and it was inevitable that they would get a second. i would of liked rocky to get a longer run out, maybe replacing small on the wing and jj should of at the very least hit the target when jeffers cut it back to him. maybe spurr should get put up front with shots like that, he is looking like a decent defender, i dont know if he will be at the club long enough to become a legend though:(

I was more than proud to be an Owl when i left Hillsborough tonight, we showed grit determination, guile, and more than anything a spirit which any team in the world would have been proud of.
Richard Wood showed his maturity today and oozed class at time's against to be fair a very dangerous forward in Andrew Johnson, Johnson's movement was first class.
The other Johnson on our side did hiself proud also although he lost the ball at times with his mazey run's he got the crowd alive and he definatly did his bit.
Beevers looked dodgy and sliced a beauty half way through the second half.
The thing that worrys me is the lack of creativity in the centre of our midfield, i touched on it last week and its starting to **** me off a bit.
How Macallister and O Conner can mix in centre of midfield is beyond me, there exactley the same sort of player little battlers, we need some creativity from the centre big time.
Tommy Spurr is a top man and a top player.

Our back four had a solid game yesterday.

We struggled in midfield and up front like we have all season really, JJ looked far more effective in the first half when he kept drifting over to the left wing, personally i'd have liked to have seen Modest given a go up front from the start as we all know JJ's shooting isn't his strong point.

Wifeys dad was in hospital after undergoing heart surgery, thought it was the decent thing to do to sort kids out rather than go out with boys, get ****** and watch football
Would you seriously ask your lass to go at a certain time and come back early so you could go to the game???
Pity your lot if you' would, and i don't have to justify it to anyone

i'd have took kids to the match as i regular do and let "wifey" do as she pleased. would have given the pub with the boys a miss for once and come straight home. the mrs would have been happy i would be happy the kids would have been out getting some fresh air instead of being cooped up in the house all day watching me getting all hot and bothered on a computer justifying my self to strangers. who's sad did you say.

but i took my kids to football from a very early age 5 and 3 to be exact. and they loved it. took them to away grounds too liverpool, cardiff, old trafford, everton, barcelona, and many more smaller ones like bradford and wendy. its called bonding mate. sure yours would have got into it if you would have at least tried. surely better for them then watching old grumpy releasing steam from his ears whilst smashing up his key board.

I took our Cory yesterday and took him against Norwich, those were his first 2 game's and he's five, it sound's to me that your lad got slightly spoilt when it come's to football ground's not everyone can afford the luxury of the nou camp.

I thought it was a decent effort from the Owls, Spurr looks better every time I see him. The midfield however, was awful apart from Wade Small who looked very dangerous. I'd have switched JJ with Boden and brought Modest on for Jeffers second half. Jeffers played very, very poorly. Can't believe they brought Small off, I thought he was the best player for us.
