Hiya, ive got the 6600 slide, ive just gone to put some Christmas photos on connected the phone to the tower via the lead and the phone started charging then nothing happened, if i left this charging would it damage the battery and why is it doing this.
I used to have a Nokia 6288 and i didnt have to charge this phone before putting pictures on or am i doing something wrong :(

Using a data cable to download your stuff wears the battery charge out fast, I've noticed this with my N95.

That's why I'm looking for a good video camera in the PC World sales, to get videos and pics from my Xbox 360, cos I can't use a TV capture card (damn you MS for making the 360 composite and no S-Video connections)

I don't use the cable on my N73, I use bluetooth

my laptop didn't come with bluetooth but a dongle only cost a tenner

You don't have to charge it before doing anything else! USB ports on a computer are primarily there to carry data from a device to the computer or vice versa, but they also send a small amount of current to the attached device. A lot of devices will take advantage of this and begin to trickle charge whilst connected.

Either you need to install some phone-specific software to get it to work, or you need to look for the flash memory showing up as a drive on your computer.
