my laptop as decided to not boot up

turned it on and was on a bios screen set it to load defaults and save

still no joy it boots up to the point where its just about to show the desktop but then just switches of ive disconted the harddrive and put it back in but no joy also tried the ram but no joy i cant try reinstalling windows as my cd drive doesnt work anybody got any clue wats up with it would be very appreciated

also before i loaded defaults it wouldnt even try to boot up and 5 sec's after switching laptop on was making a long beeb sound as if it was a ram proplem????? but like i say now ive loaded the defaults it doesnt make the beeb sound and boots up to the point its just about to show the desktop then just shuts down

Sounds like you probably need a reinstall.

...and so a new optical drive - an external one always being an option - as is Ethernet - so long as you can connect to such at boot. Mind you such are not for the faint-hearted.
