I'm doubting very much that robot is actually real, and they would never give a robot a weapon like that for a start... seesh if you've seen the movie I, Robot you'd know exactly why not... a few loose wires or something and it could go on a rampage killing everything!

y'know, maybe if we all learnt not to go invading other peoples countries and starting wars we wouldnt need guns, or nukes or anything? :suspect:

it's clearly a cgi robot, and has obviously used motion cap for the running/moving sequences.

Law enforcement robots like this are a dumb fantasy. What you are more likely to get are specialised law enforcement robots for specific tasks. We already have these - speed cameras.

The problem with a robot like this is not so much to do with it's silly design (humanoid bipedal) although that is clearly a non-starter. It's more to do with it's decision making process.

Either it uses a human level of AI, in which case it will need to be 'raised' as a human, which as any parent knows, will be a time consuming and expensive exercise. Even with this (impossible) level of AI, one has to wonder what the implications of the machine understanding its own reason for existence would be.

Or it uses a human operator safely sequestered in some bunker. At which point you are still paying for a policeman, only this time he is a spotty MechWarrior genius who works for Pizza and Alcopops.

I would suggest that most machines with human or near human intelligences (assuming it was even possible) would rapidly suffer mental breakdown resulting in suicide or dangerous psychoses.

My police robot looks more like a giant beetle. 6 legs, climbs up walls, flies, swims, eats garbage carrion and criminals, and singlemindedly pursues it's quarry before catching it and delivering the coup-de-grace: a bite to the neck from its razor sharp mandibles.

The robot also seems to lack a shadow unlike the people surrounding him.

Cool video though, shame the website address doesn't work.
