View Full Version : Plug is a disgrace
CarlSheff 01-01-2009, 00:54 What a complete robbery!!!
Not only did i pay £22 for entry into Plug nightclub which i thought was a complete rip off...i and a few others paid £22 for Floorfillers not to see Mylo. So when you decided to close the floorfillers at 12.40 rs not only was it polite but also necessary for either our money back to those that was in the room are for is to gain free entry into a number of floorfillers nights as its normally only £7 a time..but for you to try and con us into the free entry before 11.30 is a disgrace as that is for everybody on any given saturday.
At the end of the day we paid our money to see Floorfillers NOT Mylo as we didn't get what we wanted i and a number of others are really <blank> off with this, not only have i seen Mylo on a numerous occasions to which he was a mega dissappointment i wouldn't want to waste £22 to his money.
I Hope Plug do act on this but i really can't see this. Utter disgrace and no matter what it was whether it was heating not working or whatever numerous of people wanted to carry it on. What a complete waste of a night & money.
goldenfleece 01-01-2009, 13:19 A lot of people this year seem disappointed with NY Eve in Sheffield across many different venues......for £22 I would expect something totally fantastic, and not the sham you describe here.....
Your opionion of them's dropped then. I wouldn't have bothered going, I just pubbed it.
Grandad.Malky 01-01-2009, 13:23 What do they say about fools and their money?
goldenfleece 01-01-2009, 14:59 I can never understand how clubs in Sheffield think they can get away with charging extortionate door fees to see DJ's, either 2nd rate ones or former big names in decline
....when was the last time a PROPER big name 'A' List DJ played Sheffield??? Clubs here put on 'B' list (or lower!) DJ's who are worth about £2.50 a ticket, and expect the masses to flock and pay well over the odds? Hmmmmmm......this is one of the reasons the dance club scene in Sheffield has fallen to all all time low, no big names, just over hyped and valued 'B' List DJ's.....
Leeds, Manchester, etc, as others have stated, blows the Sheffield scene into the mud...its a far cry from 10 years ago, when Sheffield dance clubs and the 'scene' was pretty much in awe to all......
We've apologised to Carl and his friends and offered him some compensation for the problems. Unfortunately the bloody heating packed in in that room which made it freezing and the bar staff were virtually wearing gloves to keep warm. So the room had to close.
Golden Fleece....with a capacity of 1440 we cant just open our doors and expect it to be filled.....Mylo cost us £10k.....so hence the door price. We do have a very good policy of not trying to overcharge our customers....our drinks are the cheapest of any club in the city.
Happy New Year everyone.

Does he really cost £10K? He must be the most expensive asset of the Isle of Skye then. I guess it was NY Eve though and prices double....
Actually Plug is one of the better clubs for name DJ's..its some of the others who try to persuade you to part with mega bucks to see some so called big name that makes you go "Who?"
Craig Holmes 01-01-2009, 17:42 So is Floorfillers better than Embrace then? I've not been to Plug since they started doing this Floorfillers thing.

Not a fan of embrace at all..dont get what makes people want to go there every weekend. over priced, door staff and the staff in general treat you like cr*p and if i am honest everything about embrace is exactly how a club shouldn't be, thats just my opinion tho.

Who is the most expensive UK DJ at the moment, out of interest? Oakenfold? Carl Cox? Above and Beyond? Pete Tong?

goldenfleece 01-01-2009, 22:38 I was a dance DJ (B list or lower) for a while in 1995/6 but only managed £500 for one full night (4 hours) at a well known Sheffield Club....God, kids stuff really by these standards.......it seemed good money at the time though

That is a decent wedge to be honest you only break through to big money if you kiss enough arse, produce a masive tune or sometimes just through hard work and lots of talent, even then you probably need to do a fair bit of the former on top.
A lot of unknown or resident dj's are far more talented than the big names who command x amount of £k's for not a lot really, its more about getting your name about etc.
wasn't the music factory ''love 2 be'' was it you played at by any chance ?
dj4321gsr 02-01-2009, 00:06 I would imagine Sasha or Fatboy Slim
definately one of those 2, they dont even need to play in the UK anymore as they can command more worldwide
emsellio 02-01-2009, 00:57 What's a Mylo?

That's far more than any drag act would get in any of Sheffield's gay clubs, past or present, for one night's work; again, when you're talking Leeds, Manchester or London, with their superior cabaret clubs, it's a different story...
BTW, Happy New Year!!!

Sasha or Digweed would cost you 10 to 15K on an average weekend, never mind NYE.
10K for Mylo is nuts. He hasn't even registered in 08. Just goes to prove that the Sheffield crowd are sheep who go for name over substance.

Just goes to prove that the Sheffield crowd are sheep who go for name over substance.I'm surprised he is regarded as a draw, he did after all make his name as a producer rather than a DJ and hasn't actually released anything for 2 years. £10k does seem an awful lot of money for him. I'd be curious to see who else they could have got for the same money. Surely someone like Mark Knight would have been cheaper?

Yeah, like he hasn't played Sheffield before.....
I can see why Plug do book someone like Mylo though. When you're trying to recoup £5 to 10K on the DJ alone you need a gauranteed crowd puller. He's not done much this year but he's still a massive pull with the Ibiza electro kids.
goldenfleece 02-01-2009, 10:33 wasn't the music factory ''love 2 be'' was it you played at by any chance ?
Was that around in 1995? I thought it was later than that.......but no, never played the Music Factory, although I did DJ there in its previous incarnation, but that is a whole different kettle of fish...

DEFINATELY

He's not done much this year but he's still a massive pull with the Ibiza electro kids.It doesn't matter how many times someones played sheffield. I just used him as an example, I was trying to think of someone whos a big name in electro and he was first to mind.
I don't fault or blame plug for booking Mylo, for all I know he's a superb DJ i'm just surprised he cost that much and hes regarded as a big draw. Hence my earlier comment about who else they could have got for the same money

I would guess they could have got lots of DJ's for that money, but they would have had to book someone tried and trusted, especially for New Years Eve. You could have booked 5 Circo Loco residents and had change from £10k but I bet no one would have turned up.

I would have done it for £500:) bargain......5 people may have come:hihi:
I would of done it for 24 corona and a bag of mix nuts and raisens... And would of done a hell of a better job!

A better job than me..... or MYLO?
Mylo.... Can go b2b if you wish?
slimsid2000 03-01-2009, 15:13 For 22 quid I would expect Myleen Klass naked serving caviar from golden goblets. I would settle for Myleen Klass though.
