forgive me if this is the wrong way of asking, I've never been in this section before!
My mother in law lost her dog, a white alsation a few months ago :( shes on the lookout for another dog and wants another alsation type dog. It doesn't have to be pure bred - just have the look of one!
Shes also not after a puppy, although a fairly youngish dog would be nice. It must be housetrained and fairly good with kids - none live there but she has a few young grandchildren who visit.
I know she has been to a few rescue homes but none have anything suitable, as she's got her heart so set on an alsation. Apparently they are the type of dogs shes always had, I only ever knew her last dog Rebel who was over 12 when he died.
If anyone knows of one that needs rehoming please let me know, many thanks.

I know someone breaking her heart having to rehome her German Shepard. If you're interested let me know, but she's down south x

There was an item in today's Star about a GSD needing funds for an operation and then a new home with an experienced owner. I'm no good at posting links so perhaps someone else might do this.

We have Baxter with us

http://www.rainrescue.co.uk/rotherham.htm

He is absolutely gorgeous natured and gets on with other dogs - and loves people
Really clean and well behaved in his kennel.
Came to us very underweight, but now gaining weight - got a lovely shining coat coming through and we have just had him castrated

He will make someone a lovely dog and is really bored in kennels.
pm or email me if she may be interested to have a look at him

I help to walk Baxter last week and he is gorgeous. He had a bad start but thanks to Rainrescue is coming on a treat. Lovely temperament, friendly and just wants a loving home. Would make a lovely addition to any family. x

Theres a gorgeous beige coloured on in spring kennels.(S)He'd be great with an experienced owner. Although I was told this dog wasn't great with other dogs, it was noticeable that this dog was only responding to other dogs getting the first word in, but didn't seem to be making any first moves

Lovely looking dog. Quite large for a shepherd too

Well he certainly looks like Deefenbaker (sp?) off Due South - if anybody remembers that programme!

Baxter has gone to a foster home today - we cat tested him and he was fine - and has been for a lovely walk.
News from the foster family tonight is that he is settled well in his bed - what a nice night for him after a bad home previously - weeks in kennels - now fed well, wormed, (ok castrated may not be so great) and now in a lovely home
Still needing a home for life though.

Spring STREET kennels

it's a stones throw from west bar police station - on the new ring road

if you go to the mini roundabout at the fire station museum, head down the road to the right of it as you look at it, and take a right at the dulux decorator centre, you're there

Wasn't he deaf and had to lip-read?? He was certainly a beautiful beast.

Was he deaf?

I think the story was that he saved the hero from drowning and became deaf as a result, but I might well have imagined it! I shall have to go off and visit Google to check, now.

Edit: I was right, he was deaf! Linky: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Due_South

Isn't memory a strange and wonderful thing? I can remember a damn dog/wolf is deaf - and why - but I can forget what I went to the kitchen for in the few seconds it takes me to walk there from the parlour!

Update on this - MIL has been visiting different homes, she saw Ben but he wasn't suitable, think it was to do with the children thing :(
Anyway shes ended up with a border collie - I think Benjy from Spring Street? So much for insisting it had to be an alsation!
I've been to say a quick hello tonight, didn't want to disturb him in his new home too much! He's a gorgeous dog, very friendly and bouncy and I hope him and MIL settle down together!

He sounds lovely. We did the same thing, we went in looking for a German Shephered as we are used to the breed, but there wasn't any there . We came out with a Staffie.
