I wasn't expecting any knitting goodies so was pleasantly suprised :) My lovely neighbour gave me a copy of "Things I learned from Knitting" by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee and my sister gave me a sock kit (containing angora yarn in colours Glitterstar would love), some beautiful stitch markers, some short bamboo needles in DK sizes and the Ultimate Knitting Bible which looks interesting. So what did Santa bring you this year?

Hope you all had a good Christmas!

I am feeling very spoiled. I received the "Ultimate Knitting Bible" too! Also "Vintage Crochet" and a set of Harmony straight needles. And a knitting magazine. Which makes up for the fact that I spent the whole of Christmas being nurse to a very poorly household :gag:. Just beginning to get a bit of time now to relax and enjoy my lovely presents. And planning to have some mulled wine tonight, just because.

I got a swift and a ball winder, so if anyone's got any skeins that need winding, bring them along because I've done all of mine :D

Hope everyone had a fab christmas too :)

I got Folk Mittens by Marcia Lewandowski, and a page a day calendar by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee called ' never not knitting'.

I then spent a little christmas money on some new addi circs too.

I think its this one (http://www.angelyarns.com/yarn/luxury-socks.php)in 40 - Variegated 6 DK although the colours are much more vibrant. Its a kind of pink and purple mix and when I saw it I thought it was the kind of mix you would love. Not too sure of making socks from angora though:suspect:

I didn't actually do any knitting at all over Christmas - we were away from the day before Christmas eve and only got back last night. Maybe I should fix that

You are so right there. I scrolled down them all and that was the one I would have chosen. That looks like a real luxury yarn.

I got 600g of hand dyed Woolhunter from my fab sister Jan. Bright pinks and burnt orange and reds. Gorgeous. Now I have to find a fab pattern. Children bought me a 6 months subscription to Natural Dye Studio Sock CLub. Also got subscription to Debbie Abrahams Blanket Club.

100% Angora, won't they felt? (thinking warmth and agitiation underfoot here - not saying you have sweaty feet) or has the yarn been pre-treated?

This is what I was thinking - Im guessing it must be made with bedsocks in mind - blooming expensive bedsocks though :suspect: Anyone got any ideas of something better to make with 100g of 100% angora in pink/ purple verigated yarn?

Is it enough for a hat? Or a more ear-warmery sort of hat (that leaves a gap for a pony tail)? I think that'll be my next project - either that or cutting it all off!

Maine Morning Mitts are nice: www.knittersreview.com/Maine_Morning_Mitts.pdf , though I'm not sure the angora will be heavy enough.

ETA: I just spotted this too! http://www.freevintageknitting.com/mittens/627-gloves-pattern.html

I was quite spoilt too! This year I received a lovely pair of Knit Picks straights, and two wonderful books (A Stitch in Time by Jane Waller and Susan Crawford and Kim Hargreaves' Heartfelt.) So pleased! Also received funky tape measure as my daughter broke my old one!

I received a lovely pair of Art Viva needles from my sister and treated myself to Kim Hargreaves' Amber and some of the relevant yarn which John Lewis conveniently reduced, not really helping the stashbusting but everything was bought with a purpose (isn't it always?)!
