I'm thinking about going to one of these two (on Ridgeway) for a meal on Sunday. We went to The Phoenix a few months back and enjoyed it, but I've never been to the Swan - one friend tells me it's really good, but I'd like a few other opinions, esp from those who have been to both.

Also, what are each like for getting busy on a Sunday?

in my opinion swan isbetter though smaller and gets busy but you can book tables there

They are both really nice, Swann has real homecooked food i.e Pie and traditional food and the Phoenix is a little more up market but prices are similar.

steak and mushroom pie at the swan oooo so nice :)
great menu , lots of choice ,and very good value
no comment on the pheonix , as i havn't been for a long time :)

The Swan is great for pies and is much more like a traditional pub...The Pheonix is good but more expensive and more corporate
