View Full Version : Beer Kegs to rent for BBQ - Where can I buy one?
Hi there - anyone know where I can buy/ rent a keg of beer for a BBQ I am having later this month?
A couple of years back a friend of mine had a party with a keg of stella complete with cooler system & gas.
It was the finest nectar ever tasted and I want to re-create this.
I think he had a mate in the industry who got him the equipment.
Any ideas?
Netto are currently selling small 5 lt kegs of Stella.
Other than that you would need someone who runs a bar I guess.
You can also buy kegs of real ale from Kelham Island Brewery
Try running a search on Google, only problem is there isnt anything local!

Freephone service so its worth a call.
go to the kelham island brewey or contact them, we've had a couple of kegs off them in the past.

It's not cheap is it :o about £2 a pint. Be cheaper to go to the local with some empty glasses.
mr.blaze 08-06-2005, 15:12 Alternatively wait for you local to get a delivery and as the mans taking the barrels into the cellar quickly pilfer one and roll it down the road.
Genius I know

Pain in the arse when you have all that beer and no sensible way of getting into a pint pot - not that I'd know anything about it :hihi:
Surprised they only seem to do the large size kegs, rather than the smaller ones that some bars use, they'd be much more appropriate for hire!
Archer Road beer stop at Millhouse may be able to help?
Or try Thwaites Brewery - they can sometimes supply Warsteiner lager.
As said above, some of the local microbreweries can supply polypins of real ale - try Kelham Island or Abbeydale.
Edale brewery based at the Hillsborough Hotel will be able to sort you out with some top beer.

Don't bother with that Stella rubbish, get some proper beer.
All of Sheffield's breweries will more than likely be able to offer you a fair price: Kelham Island, Abbeydale, Edale etc.
If it is for a BBQ then they will all do a nice light ale to quaff such as Moonshine, Kelham Gold, Matins, Pale Rider, Easy Rider to name a few.
Most likely they will be able to offer a cask of 72 pints, they may even do a smaller 36 pint one, but this is less likely.
Certainly far better than that chemical cocktail that is nothing but cheap rubbish you call "Stella".

Yes Kegs and Co. do exactly this. They are based in Stockport but will deliver. You can buy kegs from them and hire the draught dispense system with cooler, gas and tap - kegsandco.co.uk
The Bradfield Brewery (http://www.bradfieldbrewery.co.uk/home/bradfield-beers/bottles-mini-kegs) do 5 litre mini kegs of beer
Kelham Island/Thornbridge Brewery do this i'm sure!!!

As do Thornbridge. (I have a friend in Colchester who's trying to get his hands on a mini-keg of Farmer's Blonde as it happens).
The Beer Parlour in Chesterfield does sell mini-kegs , and you might be able to get a mini-keg from Mitchells off-licence at Meadowhead.
The burgers might be a bit burnt by now, the BBQ was in 2005:)

GrannyGranny 27-06-2011, 07:54 :) @ mister ric, 1st post and he manages to find a thread from 6 years ago re. hiring a keg in Stockport! Do you think he has any connection to the company he recommends?

LynzStu2010 27-06-2011, 10:27 Makro used to do them, you have to pay quite a big deposit but might be worth trying? :)
