View Full Version : What genre is Nancy Sinatra - Bang Bang?
What genre is Nancy Sinatra - Bang Bang? Pretty simple question from someone who is rubbish with music genres :heyhey: I don't mean the rubbish remix that is in the charts at the minute but the orignal (if the Nancy Sinatra version is the original).
Thank in advance.
seanyboy 08-06-2005, 12:37 Its only really become popular since it was used on Kill Bill soundtrack.
If you were looking for it in a record shop I would guess you'd find it in "Easy Listening".
BoppinBruce 08-06-2005, 15:03 The sides she cut in the 60's were easy listening towards country. Duets with the likes of Deam Martin on 'Things'. But there is a dark side like 'Some Velvet Morning'. Very strange and deep. Dont ask me to explain. I can but it will take forever.
Listen to her with Lee Hazelwood, his deep bass voice complimenting hers.
And as for the arrangement of 'Something Stupid', what a master stroke to get her descant to be lower than her father's.
Nancy, my boots are made for walking. She is still easy leaning towards country.
Hope this helps
(ps Kirky, is this music or what)

I LOVE Audio Bullys. Listen to The Ego War album, it's brilliant.
Check out "Bang Bang" here (http://www.fs1.co.uk/ecard/audiobullys/card.html)

The Audio Bullys is the remix that's in the charts at the minute - unlike march i happen to acutally quite like it - not on the radio though, its got to be in a club to get the proper effect.
As for the original, I'd go with the popular consensus of "Easy Listening"
"Bang Bang" was originally sung by Cher, written by her husband, Sonny Bono! It got very high in the charts as I remember, maybe even No. 1, but I can't be sure of that.
I've never heard Nancy Sinatra's cover before.
carcrash 08-06-2005, 18:09 Nancy is 65 today.
She has been working in the studio on new stuff with Javis Cocker and Richard Hawley.
mojoworking 08-06-2005, 23:09 As already mentioned, Cher did it first around 1966. You'll find the original on any 'Best Of Sonny & Cher' CDs (or possibly 'Best Of Cher' solo). In its day, it was simply classed as 'pop music'. These days, though, I suspect it would be filed in the 'sixties' or 'nostalgia' rack.
The Nancy Sinatra version is a modern recording, so it will only be on the 'Kill Bill' soundtrack album (unless they've added it to one of her 'Best Of' CDs already, in which case, you'll find it in the same place as the Sonny & Cher CDs)

Richard Hawley has just supported her on her recent european tour.

you know nothing, as much as i dislike Marco V and actually like the Bullies, their version is pap.
it sounds like some spadged up monged out speed garage bass line with nancy sinatra vocals over the top.
the marco v mix actually has a progressive rhythm which goes somewhere.
