Hi there - has anyone recently done a pregnancy test when they think they are pregnant as have missed a period and are always bang on time each month but its come out as negative?
I don't know what to do next.

I'd wait a few more days to see if your period arrives, if not, test again?

Failing that, go to the doctors and ask them to test...

Is it true that a blood test can pick up on the rise of hormones needed to detect a pregnancy a lot sooner than home kits? I'm just concerned as I'm always bang on time and now nearly a week late, over 20 odd years this is the first time I haven't had a period.

Some ladies hormones don't double as fast as others, so sometimes even bloods can be inconclisive. I would leave it a week and retest. I recently had a period delayed by 3 weeks but I wasn't pregnant either

This happened to me a few days ago. I was so convinced I was pregnant (we have been trying) and when my period came I was so disappointed. Like you I am never late. But with Christmas and everything, stress, excitement etc can affect periods and that's what I think happened to me. I would wait a while longer and then retest. At 2 weeks late I might go to the doctors to see if they would test.

Try not to convince yourself too much that you are pregnant as that's what I did and it really upset me that I wasn't :(. I think after falling pregnant by accident with my son I really thought I would just get pregnant straight away this time.

Tests can give a false negative result sometimes - I'd give it a couple of weeks and test again.

Although you may already know for definite one way or the other by now!

I did 4 tests with my son that all came back negative but I knew I was.

so as the others have said, give it a couple of weeks.

Happened to me - I tested negative after being 7 days late. That was on the Saturday. So, because I wasn't pregnant (!), went out did the gardening including moving paving stones, cutting the hedge and grass, bending and stretching, like you do. By the time Thursday came, still no period and has I was going out that night, decided to test again just to check whether I could have a drink or not. And...... there were 2 very clear blue lines!!!!!!! Wait a few more days and test again, and the best of luck!!!! x

I had this with my son, I just KNEW I was, so did a few tests very early :blush: eventually I got a positive one, it was the faintest blue line ever and I almost read it as a negative, in fact I did and was just about to throw it in the bin lol
