View Full Version : No sound with d/loads 5star 08-06-2005, 10:16 can anyone tell me why the last 2 "things" i d/loaded came with no sound and they each took 12hrs to burn with Nero? xafier 08-06-2005, 11:46 well if your downloading pictures they dont have sound... or if you were downloading web pages most dont have sound either... infact a lot of things dont have sound :? what "things" would you be talking about? and I'm sorry but nothing takes 12hrs to burn, not even in Nero! there isn't any media that writes at minus speeds! 5star 08-06-2005, 14:04 hi Xafier I say "things" because I'm not supposed to be talking about that stuff on here. If I say the thing is "Torrential", would you know what I mean ;) march 08-06-2005, 14:13 The "thing" probably required a codec you didn't have for the sound. The 12 hours will have been mostly spend re-encoding the "thing" so it would play on an external player that plays these "things". sccsux 08-06-2005, 15:29 Originally posted by march The "thing" probably required a codec you didn't have for the sound. Which, if the problem was with the audio, then Nero would re-encode minus the (to Nero) faulty sound info;). SaveUK 08-06-2005, 15:32 12 hours to burn with nero :o what kind of spec Cdr or dvdr you got mate and what kind of "thing" is it? not in so may words of cause ;) than maybe would could help :) vidster 08-06-2005, 17:22 Download the k-lite codec pack. This has most (if not all) the codec's you'll need. Try using VLC media player too. That plays almost everything  Why Nero should take 12 hours is a mystery to me. I'd say more like 14-20 mins if your burning what i 'think' your burning. Taking a wild guess and someone who knows better will be able to answer but, does the 'thing' your trying to burn need extracting? Maybe Nero is struggling to uncompress some files? xafier 08-06-2005, 20:10 bah, its blatently obvious he's downloaded a movie in avi format and is probably missing either: a) the ogg vorbis codec b) AC3 codec download those codecs and you could be fine... but seriously, dont make dvd's with nero, its the biggest piece of poop EVER for re-encoding and making DVDs! 5star 09-06-2005, 10:31 ... but seriously, dont make dvd's with nero, its the biggest piece of poop EVER for re-encoding and making DVDs! would you recommend something else?;) i realised that my files were done in bin/cue. I used isobuster to extract them but got confused at the whole process. End result... film with sound, but very poor picture. It plays great on pc.:gag: OceanWave 11-06-2005, 18:08 once i have the codec d/loaded, how do i use G-Spot to get sound back on the file that I have? would I have to d/load file again? 21steve 11-06-2005, 19:19 no, using g spot you can load the file up and it will say audio: codec: ac3 codec: codec NOT installed or compatable codec installed. if its not got audio id guess its ac3 vidster 11-06-2005, 20:50 Originally posted by OceanWave once i have the codec d/loaded, how do i use G-Spot to get sound back on the file that I have? would I have to d/load file again? The codec should install itself as far as i am aware. 5star 15-06-2005, 11:14 Ok. Thats 7 discs with no sound, and counting. I d/loaded K-Lite, the sound plays on my pc ok. Should K-Lite automatically put sound into the 'file', or do i have to do something? I need help :help: , before I go insane with spending too much time on one project. Does anyone live near Crystal Peaks that could show me where I'm going wrong? ANGELUS 15-06-2005, 11:33 I live near Crystal Peaks but Im **** hot busy at the minute with me new house and all.. PM me and I'll try and help you out though mate. 21steve 15-06-2005, 11:37 did you get g spot and load the file into that to find out what the audio codec is and if you have it installed? vidster 15-06-2005, 15:49 Originally posted by 5star Ok. I suspect it is the audio settings on your DVD player 5star. My brother had a similar problem and he just had to change the audio channel. If the sound is set to 5.1 try changing it to stereo. Try them in another DVD player as well  I'm having a similar problem with the picture on my new DVD recorder. I'm going to try my ancient player later :suspect: march 15-06-2005, 15:53 When you say it works on your PC do you mean it will play the burned disk on the PC? Have you tried playing it back on the PC off the disk once it has been burned? If that plays fine then the problem is with DVD player. 5star 16-06-2005, 17:06 You got one too? How'd ya like it? I got the panasonic one. My dad has the philips one, now the worst thing is, my dvd recordings won't play on his, and visa versa, so we can't record stuff for each other. My dad now has the Sky+ and swears by it. Wish I'd gotten that instead of this heap of sh*t. Question: if i download a'file' and it automatically goes into Winamp, do I convert the file somewhere different? I'm having a similar problem with the picture on my new DVD recorder. Obviously the sound is getting lost in transit. vidster 16-06-2005, 18:00 Originally posted by 5star Question: if i download a'file' and it automatically goes into Winamp, do I convert the file somewhere different? I first extract the file using winrar. Then i convert it using DivX-to-DVD. No problems so far. |
