Hi, I am moving to Sheffield in September and I was wondering if there is a particular newspaper that I could get info on different social groups / hobbies / clubs I can join. I know few people in Sheffield so I need to get myself involved and integrated! Thanks for any info.

Hi Virgil
The Sheffield Star is the local paper, but the Central Library is a good source of info on clubs & groups. Also, asking on here should get you a few suggestions. I'm into Amateur Dramatics for starters!

Good luck, sure you will make new friends very quickly. xx

Hi

The brill thing about sheff is that the Peak district is right on the doorstep. If you're into walking try the Sheffield 20s and 30s walking group. They pick up in town every Sat / Sun and they're very good fun to boot (or 'in boots' maybe?)

Just say that Keith and Carol led you there (more kudos is always handy)!

Have a read in Notice/Events. There's the forum meets and other peope often send invites. Although it's not exatcly hobby (well it is :D) you may get to meet others who can recommend things.

maybe give us an idea of what you're interested in

You could try the "help yourself directory" it is a data base of lots of groups and societies running in Sheffield.

I'm apparently not allowed to put links to other sites yet but I usually find it by typing - help yourself Sheffield - into google.
