View Full Version : Sheffield half marathon are you up for it
foofighter11 28-12-2008, 22:20 With cristmas over how many of you are thinking about joining a gym to lose them extra pounds or to get fit only to find out every one has got the same idea and you cant get on a peice of equipment :hihi:
the Sheffield half is on the 26th april so with plenty of time to train what a better way to keep fit/lose them extra pounds and it will not cost you the earth
Any runners and non runners who would like to train for this event but dont know were to start the www.sheffieldrunningclub.co.uk may be the answer for you as they are starting there half marathon training ( and some are even training for london )
so if this sounds like you come down drop a post or just turn up on our sunday runs that go from diferent areas each week
NickDuggan 30-12-2008, 00:24 What about the sessions omn Tuesday and Thursday Steve
Doesnt the 09 Sheffield marathon clash with the London marathon ?

foofighter11 14-01-2009, 20:30 this week we had 18 runners in the slower group and i recon about 40 to 45 runners in tottal training around the streats with suport like this why go it aloan on the long cold dark nights
the sunday run will go from the comunity centre in grenoside at 10am two groups planed but that depends nice long run so come along if you wish oh and drinks after in the old harrow
I did the London Marathon last year in a time of 4:23:11
It was a great day out. I trained for 5 months, three times a week.
Ever since i finished it though i have done nothing but pile on the pounds, so training for a sheff half marathon might be a good idea, before i get too fat.
:)
foofighter11 18-01-2009, 20:11 Well done on your marathon sucsess great time
as you will know training for an event like the marathon and half marathon takes time and dedication and makes all the diferance between haveing a good run or hating every step and injury there is only 13 more weeks to train for the sheffield half and london marathon :help: so no time like the present to dust of them trainers
NickDuggan 20-01-2009, 23:10 Great training session tonight over 50 runners in six different groups ideal preparation for london Marathon , Shefield Half and Great Yorkshire Run.
Im glad the London and Sheffield are on the same day, I've got an excuse not to do the London.
Im up for training runs anything up to 6 miles near to Meadowhall or the Stadium near the English Institute of Sport on Attercliffe.
Agent Orange 21-01-2009, 14:55 I might be interested in this. I used to run ages ago, but lost my way and started slacking and now I have porked out. Anyhow, not sure if I will be able to get fit in time for April, but will give it a good go :)

Damn damn damn:mad:
Missed the deadline, been busy recouperating from a minor operation and had set this as my target.
If anyone drops out please let me know.
.
Shelectric 09-04-2009, 09:42 On a similar note, can anyone reccomend any races? I didn't fancy the half marathon because I don't like the route. Are there any races with 'pretty' routes and no loops?!
I know I'm fussy, I love running in the peaks but haven't got a clue which race to enter?
