View Full Version : Maximuscle - Promax
evening,
does anyone use maximuscle promax extreme?
if so, any good?
am getting into to shape and really getting into training, but need a fast way of getting protein etc.
thanks!
r.
Theres better (and cheaper) products on the market.
Are you looking to get into shape in a fitness sense or bodybuilding sense?
BSN are a great supplement company who do really great and reasonably priced supplements. You get what you pay for though.
If you don't already know though, if you're looking for quick protein you need a Whey protein with plenty of carbs. Stay away from Casein as its much slower releasing. (Casein is better to have last thing at night so that your body stays metabolic for longer.)
they all do the same, goto myprotein.co.uk (think thats the address, its blocked out at work so cant check).
also maybe look into creatine depending on the level of your training.
or affordablesupplements.co.uk
Its all good!!

fitness sense really. have a good build, just need to rid of fat, turn it into muscle.
i'm pretty rubbish with dieting, but will reduce the crap & train hard i guess.
cheers for advice.
the gutting thing is mate its impossible to turn fat to muscle. Its like turning water into wine. They're totally different things.
Start with some cardio to lose the body fat and then add weights to up the muscle.
Best cardio you're gonna be able to do is something you enjoy and can take a mate along too. The competitive side of you both will push you along at times where you may not want to train. Make sure you take someone who will either keep u motivated or where there are plenty of people.
Try to incorporate it into a game rather than just running on a treadmill!! Something like football (or if you find it difficult to keep up) Squash is awesome for cardio!!
Just make sure you enjoy your training. That way you'll do it more often!! :)
again, thank you for advice.
reckon i'll start with mountain biking, and throw some weights in a couple of times a week.
tbh, rather train on my own. just like shopping. lol.

It's true that fat cannot turn into muscle- yet, as all bodybuilders know, it is far easier to put on muscle when carrying extra fat, that it is when bodyfat is low.
There used to be a belief that 'bulking up' aided in putting on muscle as the fat would be converted to muscle through training- science exposed the myth that fat can turn into muscle and so 'bulking up' was discredited.
However, just because fat cannot turn into muscle, it can't be inferred from that that 'bulking up' is ineffective- there are a host of other reasons why 'bulking up' could be effective, none of which rely on the erroneous premise of fat converting to muscle.
Many of these reasons are based on evolution- the fact that for most of mans evolution, muscle has yielded few benefits in terms of survival, whereas an amount of excess fat has many benefits (during famine)- also the fact that fat requires far less calories to maintain than does an equivalent amount of muscle and, in times of hunger, can be broken up to provide energy more effectively than muscle can.
This means, for most people, that the body is reluctant to assign resources to muscle production if the person has low bodyfat- millions of years of evolution have shown that to be a bad idea.
If however, the person is carrying excess fat, the bodies programming will be happy to assign resources to increasing muscle mass.
That's my theory anyway :)

Very true- and one reason why I do regular weights sessions but very little cardio :)
Another benefit of weights is that you don't actually have to spend that much time doing them to get decent results- most people do sessions that are far too long and end up overtrained, discouraged and, ultimately, give up.
Thats why you gotta love Mike Mentzer! Well, up until 1980 when he stopped training and started taking drugs!! LOL
blackeyed 30-12-2008, 16:57 Boxing Boxing Boxing no sport like it to bring you into shape, no need to open spar in the ring, body sparring is just as good to burn of those excess calories.
Try it at one of the many gyms around sheffield
P.S what happened to the training with Chief Kicker?
thanks blackeyed.
am currently / have been looking for a while for a new gym / place to train.
i have a pretty hectic job & the training i was doing just wasn't working well alongside it, just too tired due to late nights. shame, but difficult to find balance.

Fat doesn't turn into muscle. If you're trying to burn fat then you don't need protein supplements at all, you just need lots of cardio.
Edit - I see that everyone already said this anyway. But no one said don't bother buying supplements, so I'll say it (consider it said).
onewheeldave 31-12-2008, 01:22 But muscle does help a lot with fat.
Firstly, if you've a bit overweight and don't have the temperament to adopt a lifelong course of cardio, adding muscle will leave you looking better, even with the excess fat.
Secondly, as muscle takes a fair bit more energy just to maintain itself than does fat, by having excess muscle you'll burn more calories than if you didn't have the muscle.
The thing about any kind of deliberate body-change, whether it's losing fat or gaining muscle, is that, for the change to stay, you'll need to be doing that exercise or diet for the rest of your life- so, whatever it is, it'd better be something you enjoy.
And some people just aren't into cardio exercise as a lifelong pursuit.
