View Full Version : Sheffield Thaiboxing/K1 Kickboxing Show, 22nd February 2009
chefkicker 27-12-2008, 14:32 Hi everyone
Following on from the success of our previous 10 events, AFK Promotions are showcasing their next event.
This event will be geared around Thaiboxing and K-1 rules more so than the "1970's style" Kickboxing.
We already have local fighters from Sheffield and Barnsley confirmed. Fighters will also be arriving from all over the country. Teeside, Manchester, Liverpool, Hull , Bristol, Wales, Southampton and London to name but a few.
Sheffield fighters from AFK & Kapap sheffield have been finalised and their matches confirmed , local clubs such as SDF, Kombat sports and Andy Marlow's gym have already pledged their support as well as a possibility from a comeback from a couple of the Black Dragons fighters.
Independent fighters are also welcome, just contact me on 07775 914155 if you fancy being matched up. ALL of our fights have been fair matches that ANYONE can guarantee and none can deny. :D
More details to follow on soon.
good luck with the show farhed
Blue-Eagle 27-12-2008, 17:54 its gonna be great (Y)
Our people are training hard for this, should be another great night .

Lukborai , Teeside, Telford, East ridings ,Liverpool (2 different gyms) and Salford have been confirmed for the muay thai matches.
In fact the majority of the muay thai is matched around the very vocal Salford crew. :D

because all the fighters @ Wicker are far better than these (in mu opinion), they'd kick ass. plus most of wicker fighters go for belts not a fancy fight

I know yousef ( well i can guess as much) is fighting for a title but not to sure of the other two ?
You said they were iska titles but are they british titles or is yousef fighting at a diffrent weigh ( again a clever guess from you earlier post calling yousef fat lol)
spider66 04-02-2009, 00:18 Every body seems to be fighting for a title lately lol
Just 3 questions:
1 Whats titles that are being fought over ?
2 What are the fighters records ??
3 if they are worthy fighters will they be on some sort of rankings list ?
pretty boy 04-02-2009, 12:17 i'd love to know the answers to thes questions
bladesufc1 04-02-2009, 12:32 Why ???
Craig
so would i! or is there something to hide and these kids have no experiance
Anyone who steps in the ring should be shown respect.... irrelevant of experience they have, Grow up people , LOL..... I'm sure people who actually have done this don't generally talk **** on the keyboards..
Craig.
pretty boy 04-02-2009, 16:09 we just want to know who's fighting and for what titles not dis respecting any fighter
spider66 04-02-2009, 16:50 Why ???
Craig
im not asking or questioning who is on the undercard although id like to know, but who isfighting for what title.
You will agree lotar that a title has to mean somthing usually it shows that a fighter has proved their self in a ring may be having 7 or 8 + fights depending on the title - so there is no disrespect when asking the questions, especially when spectators are paying for the priviallage to watch a title fight.
If promoters let any tom, dick or harry fight for titles then they become worthless and the associations that sanction such events become laughing stocks.

Finally a post that makes sense :P
Rest assured that all 3 fighters who are fighting for the ISKA titles have had 7 fights plus.
The titles are at the following weights.
72.5 kg , 69.5kg, 53.5kg
If you have or know fighters from your own gym at those weights who you believe are good enough to fight our guys for those titles then please get in touch at.

I agree Craig. The problem with some of those people who post negative comments on this thread, they HAVE no respect either for themselves or others. Hell they dont even respect their instructors !!! (having said that some of their instructors dont show respectful conduct out of the ring anyway).
Anyway Craig, ill send you the rest of those tickets you asked for. Well done on getting shot of those so quickly ;)
Drop them down the gym Farhad, we need about another 25 mate...

chefkicker can you tell me who are these title fights between? how many fights is on the night and are they all muaythai or k-1 or is some of them kickboxing too?
chefkicker 17-02-2009, 15:04 chefkicker can you tell me who are these title fights between? how many fights is on the night and are they all muaythai or k-1 or is some of them kickboxing too?
There should be 13 or 14 (one possible pull out due to illness).
I would say that is an equal split between K-1 , Muay thai and Kickboxing.
Also ALL the kickboxing fights on this show will include leg kicks! (its an experiment to try and keep it all "uniform" if that makes any sense).
Title Fights will be as follows:
KICKBOXING =
Rubin Hassan (AFK) Vs Dean Storey (Manchester)
Both fighters are fighting at 69.5kg.
MUAY THAI=
Daitan Jackson (Manchester) Vs Kade Sherlock ( Combat gym)
Both title fights are 5x2 mins.
Yousif Ibrahim is not fighting for a title, hes just doing a 3 rounder. Reason is due to a weight difference. Firstly , Yousif is no longer a Flyweight. Secondly, his opponent is above his weight anyway.
See you there.
There are still 20 tickets left.

Hi tomy
The fights you mentioned, the AFK fighter who won his ISKA title was fighting for a title under KICKBOXING rules.
The fight was without footpads and shinpads and both fighters were in shorts (which is how kickboxing at that level should be fought) . PROPER kickboxing rules allow kicks to the legs as well as body and head.

Yes Phil Gregory was great at training last night wasnt he?
Came all the way from Wales to support our show (when he wasnt fighting either) and even came and trained at AFK.
He seemed to be shocked at seeing me "get my legs up" he had only ever seen me in a suit previous to yesterday!
LOL

Big up Mr and Mrs Superman!!!

Superwoman 28-02-2009, 22:43 Well......thats a good question, i wouldnt like to say any names as of yet !! let me have a think and ill get back to u !! xxxx
Superwoman 28-02-2009, 22:53 Who do you think chiefkicker? anyone in mind ?
chefkicker 04-03-2009, 17:03 Who do you think chiefkicker? anyone in mind ?
Ok here goes.
At the top of the tree you have Shaun Lomas, (still a long way to go before taking his title) but all that depends if Shane Beard tries to take Shaun's title off him first?
But closer to Ant's level are :
From Kapap there is Pep Corso (hes a tough lad, powerful and durable)
Michael Gabbitas he is unpredictable and has KO Power.
At present they arent quite his exeprience level but will be possible dangers to Ant in the future. Other than that there isnt many kickboxers at that weight division in sheffield worthy of our attention at the moment
Superwoman 05-03-2009, 13:37 interesting !! i say lets cut out the middle men and go straight for the great mr lomas !! hahaha, but thats just my opinion, you know best oh great one ! haha, i cant wait for the next fight night xx
Isn't Shaun Lomas fighting Mehdi from Wicker Camp at the end of March? That ones gonna be fun to watch. I saw Mehdi training the other day and just hope Shaun comes ready.
stussonicos 06-03-2009, 08:43 Hiya BJJ
Yeah Mehdi is having a re-match with Shaun Lomas at the end of March (a full post regarding the Wicker Camp show will be posted shortly) and I think it's fair to say there is a little bad blood there.
They fought last year in Birmingham with Mehdi taking a points victory although Mehdi was really unhappy with his performance. Needless to say this time round it won't be the same fight, Mehdi has been training very differently for thsi fight and I do see it going to distance.
chefkicker 06-03-2009, 12:54 interesting !! i say lets cut out the middle men and go straight for the great mr lomas !! hahaha, but thats just my opinion, you know best oh great one ! haha, i cant wait for the next fight night xx
It will be a few more AFK fight nights time before Ant takes Shaun Lomas' title off him ;)
OR tries to take it off him , whichever it will be :D
Will be a good fight either way.
chefkicker 08-03-2009, 13:29 so would i! or is there something to hide and these kids have no experiance
What a daft post.
Robin Hewson, Dean Storey, Kade Sherlock and Daitan Jackson have NO experience ? Hmmm ok if you say so :hihi:
