View Full Version : E-Mail forwarding question
ToryCynic 07-06-2005, 21:14 Right, what I want to do, is look at alex@fsmail.net and me@gmail through Outlook, I've set G-Mail up, but @fsmail is a no, no - Wanadoo claim I cannot. So, could I perhaps forward @Fsmail to @yahoo or something, and have both @gmail and @fsmail going to @yahoo and then pick up @yahoo's mail (which will contain gmail & fsmail) from Outlook?
However, fsmail has no forwarding options... G-Mail has, and I have that set-up.
Any suggestions?
Cheers,
:)
tslogf74 07-06-2005, 21:37 Not sure about Outlook. Thunderbird is an email client that will let you read IMAP mailboxes, which might allow you to access your fsmail and will allow you to access your gmail.
ToryCynic 07-06-2005, 21:41 OK, cheers - I'll look into it.
Alex
Why not just forward fsmail to gmail. there's a bit too much forwarding going on in your plan, took me a few goes to work out what was going where, and how many times.
Other option, is get some email accounts that allow pop access or better still register your own domain for email.
I set up a FSmail account a year or so ago, and then found that because it was a Freeserve (pre Wanadoo) freebie, it was webmail only, and couldn't be be forwarded to another mail client, which was a pain, so I gave up the account straight away. "btinternet" used to have a completely free mail account that couldn't be forwarded and could only be viewed through webmail, but I think they may have scrapped that now that bt broadband have started including e-mail with their packages.
If anyone opens a Hotmail account these days, the messages can't be forwarded to another mail client, such as Outlook or Outlook Express. MSN say it's a security issue. Any Hotmail account that is already been downloaded to another client is ok though.
ToryCynic 08-06-2005, 09:33 It seems I can get G-Mail to work with Wandoo's @fsmail.net service, (i.e, I can read and send G-Mail messages from Wanadoo's site), but I have decided to scrap teh OE system, and I want to be able to read @fsmail.net on the gmail site. But I believe this cannot be done, is this true?
Alex
You wont be able to read your fs mail from gmail, although fsmail used to be outlook compatable, have they changed it now to try and shift people over to @wanadoo?

Ah, is there a way that I can change to @wanadoo so I can read the messages throguh the G-Mail site, and inivitably, on my mobile - as I can then use pop.gmail.com on the mobile...
Cheers, Alex
