I've got a 2001 Citroen Xsara estate, and the gearbox has always been a bit noisy ever since I bought it from an auction, though it's been a good runner.

The gearbox is getting noisier and I'm concerned it might fail, but I need the name of a reputable company that could repair or replace the gearbox without ripping me off.

Anyone got any recommendations?

There's a Citreon mechanic who works for himself, based somewhere just off Bradfield Road, Hillsborough. My Dad has used him before and says his work and his prices are very good. I'll find out his name/address and let you know. I would recommend NOT being tempted to go somewhere like Reg Vardys, as you will pay mega-bucks for mediocre service.

Thanks, I definitely wasn't planning on going to Reg Vardy.

I had to get my car electrics done there (as Citroen don't release schematics or circuit diagrams to non-dealers), and they charged me 30 quid just to connect it to their diagnostic computer, and over a 100 quid for a small electonic module. Final bill was over £200!

The Citroen garage in Hillsborough is Bellamy's Autos.

It's situated on Borough Road, just off Owlerton Green behind Swann Morton.

He's a Citroen specialist and definately knows his stuff.
