Just trying to synch the ipod to the computer and it's just blinking 'OK to disconnect'
The directions it came with were useless, so I downloaded the manual.
However it's downloaded the itunes library, fine, but it won't recognise the ipod itself. I wonder if it's because so many people are trying to register theirs today?
ok, do you actually have music on there? you said it downloaded the itunes library...
If thats the case, it connected, downloaded it and is now saying its ok to disconnect as its done, you would need to tell it to NOT auto sync in itunes..
open iTunes, and then connect your ipod, next you will see your ipod on the list on the left (Under "Devices")
Click on the iPod (NOT Music, or Movies etc) and then on the Summary screen on the right, set the options you want (tick boxes near the bottom)
Next, click Music across the top (Not Music on the left side) - then un-tick "Sync Music"
This will then allow you to click Music on the left (once applied) and drag individual tracks to put on your iPod.

When we go into itunes, the ipod is not listed under devices.
Some of our music is there but not the main file, so I don't know how it chose which file.
I am not charging the ipod via the computer, it just alternates between 3messges, one is saying Connected , one says ejecting and the other OK to disconnect as if it has synched but there's nothing on there.
It doesn't appear to connect properly.
Thanks for your help I have a very dissappointed daughter here!

update....the ipod is now charging OK
I managed to register it correctly at itunes.
However sometimes the ipod device shows, other times it doesn't.
Also it tries to synch but we get a message file cannot be read/found
For some reason we managed to get 1 song but no others so something must be working somewhere, I assumed it took all songs and each time you plugged back it in added new ones...
when you plug in the iPod, and it shows under Devices, click on the iPod on the left, and click RESTORE on the right... also might be an idea to update it while your there :) (Under Summary option at the top)

Thanks for your help Ghozer, we managed to restoe and then it started to sync OK.
Do you know how I can move files into itunes as I didn't specify a file from where it selected them from? Also how do you delete tunes, these are simple questions but for some reason when managing the files from the device option the delete option is greyed out...
You need to set it to "Manually manage music and files" from the summary screen. then when you select MUSIC under the iPod on the left, you can click and delete and drag and drop tunes in there.
