Those with a sense of Deja Vu - and others with an interest in the history of this saga - should read this (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=434614) and this (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=433333) and this (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=433653).

As the first says... he needs the install discs for the computer he has if he's to do a complete re-install and only if he states which he has can he get help with that specific issue - i.e. by someone offering him a copy. (I know someone with an eMac but he's got a one in four chance of having the same one - there being that many models as the first thread above says.) Mind you a full re-install may be pointless if he has OS X 10.1 or above on it already as he could use the (copy) system discs to overcome any lost password - as explained here (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1274) - though if he's sure there's nothing on the computer he wants then he may as well take this path. (It may be possible on OS 9 too but I know next to nothing about that - something I have no wish to change - that appearing to be irrelevant here, though, as it sounds like there's a version of OS X running.) His desire to install a generic version of Tiger (if he can get one) will only work if there is an intact operating system on there already - which appears to be the case. That said it's not clear exactly where he's got to - it sounding like an install process - though why he would have had to bypass a password screen and what the white one is I have no idea. So, unless you (reader) have one and can help I suggest he tells us which of the four eMacs he has - ideally also the serial number so that potential helpers can identify it on the Apple web site by submitting that - i.e. as explained in the first of the above-mentioned threads. Perhaps then someone (maybe me) can offer him a copy of the system disks to try and get beyond the brick wall (white screen) he has reached. Finally, let's hope he doesn't start yet another thread until this specific issue is resolved.
