Well it's a year ago today (christmas eve) that I had to make the hard decision to have my old cat Blaze put to sleep. We'd had 10 marvellous years, from her being an unwanted kitten...to being my lovely little angel. I still miss her, I'll be crying a few tears today - those that don't have pets don't understand our attachment to them - it's like losing a relative.....sad times today but lovely memories to last a lifetime.

Tilly was about 10 months old when I adopted her just over 2 months ago and she's been that little ray of sunshine that everyone needs in their life. She's a complete lunatic, she's so affectionate too....but she's let you know exactly when she wants attention and when she wants to be left alone. So today.....roughly 12 months since she was born....is also a special day for Tilly. It's her birthday (well it's a rough guess but I thought a little bit of cat spoiling today would do us both good! :)

Tilly had a bit of a bumpy start to life, she's had many mentions in threads on Sheffield Forum, her kittens all got wonderful new homes and I can report that Tilly is a very happy, healthy and contented cat. Thanks to medusa for overseeing her care and allowing me to adopt her.....it's given both me and Tilly a fresh start I think. Thanks also to Mort who brought Tilly back home to my place - Tilly took all of 30 seconds to make herself at home :)

Tilly has so many toys and gets whatever she wants and needs, she is a very pampered little cat....I'm sure she'd be happy with what I did to mark her birthday and Blaze's anniversary. I bought 2 big trays of catfood at morrisons today....and put them in the cats charity bin.....Tilly will be celebrating with a bowl of tuna as a treat and she's having some turkey on christmas day.

I wish everyone a very merry christmas, special mention to all those that do fantastic work to rescue pets in danger and rehome them....and also those people who give an animal a second chance.

Much love as always.

What a lovely thread, you sound thrilled to bits with Tilly, sounds like she's got a great place to live with you. No point in having pets if you can't spoil them.

I second what you say about all the fantastic people that work in pet rescue, I dread to think what would happen to some of the poor animals if it weren't for so many kind hearted people. I take my hat off to all of them, it must be so difficult at times.

You can't possibly know how pleased I am that you and Tilly are so much in love Mick. Stories such as yours are why I foster and continue to bring cats and kittens into my home- it's so that I can feel that I can contribute to both the cats' lives and to that of the humans who adopt them (or are adopted by them, both ways work!).

I've got your card on my mantelpiece, with the fabulous Tilly looking out at me. I couldn't be more pleased that she's got the loving home that she so deserves, after her really horrible start in life.

I know that Tilly will have everything that she needs for the rest of her life with you, just as you did the best for Blaze- please give her a big hug off me.

Cat heaven must be a lovely place, with all the lovely beasties that are in it :)

All the best, Mick, for a happy Christmas, to you and to Tilly the wondercat...

I echo the sentiments about how brilliant it is that you and the Tillycat have found each other. I know she is now living the life of Reilly, after the dreadful start before she and her babies were fostered by Medusa, and you gave Tilly a home.

You are bound to miss Blaze, but she left her pawprints on your heart, so you'll not forget her.

Well Tilly had a nice birthday - and thanks for all the kind messages. She's allowed me a few extra cuddles today (mainly because she sensed I was a bit upset....oh and I had cat treats too! :hihi:)

She's off out now.....I think the cats in the neighbourhood are planning to ambush father christmas - I fear for his life.....there's a big ginger tom called Theo and he's a bad ass! :o

Merry Christmas :)

I'm so glad you and Tilly are enjoying your first christmas together and I wish you many more of them.
Tilly is a lovely cat and quite quite loony. Poor Santa, I bet he'll be a bit more careful around your neck of the woods next year. :)

Here's a pic to show Tilly. Harry (http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u49/monkeyloon/001-4.jpg) and his first attempt at putting up a Christmas tree. At the moment he's asleep in a pile with Billy and Mojo after a big bowl of turkey.

He's been brilliant this Christmas and apart from the odd attack on the tree he's got through it without making me want to kill him too much:hihi:

It's so lovely to hear his mum is so loved and doing so well:thumbsup:

Happy Christmas to you both from us both:D

It's so nice to know he's got a loving home too - I'll let Tilly know when she comes back in - she's just gone out after wolfing a plate of Turkey down :o

Merry Christmas to you both from me and her! :D
