I think you can buy time with a credit card through the Xbox itself.

No. You get one month free for the machine. Each machine has a unique ID that Microsoft assign one free account to. You can upgrade using your xbox so you don't need to go to a web page.

No your wrong,Each account/gamer tag has the id,You can have as many gamer tags on gold as you want as long as you have enough memory,I have 3 profiles on my 360.Get the 12 month live gold from most places or by credit card from marketplace on your dashboard,Shop around game shops and supermarkets and expect to pay between £35-£40 for 12 months

My take on this is he is asking if he creates another gamertag will he get another 1 month free? The answer is no. I have 6 gamertags on my machine but only 1 is a live account.

You can have three free months using different gamertags. Straight from those at xbox  I have 3 gamertags, all have a free month each.

But you have to buy a gold membership for each gamertag don't you?

Has anyone ever ordered from here? http://xboxlivesubscriptions.com/12+1monthssubscriptions.html?utm_medium=2

you'd be better off just buying straight from xbox live market place with debit or credit card, and you can be back online with in minutes

As already stated you get upto 3 accounts with free 1 month gold membership.

I think I pay about £28 for 13 months Gold Live from a guy on ebay, there are a few and one has much better feedback than the others.

My sons have got an xbox elite for crimbo and each want their own gamertag...at the mo I cant set up Xbox live as we need to buy the wifi adapter as the ethernet cable wont reach the PC but the question they have asked is can they have their own gamertag ?? or do I have to buy 3 gold subscriptions....the previous poster did mention 3 accounts per membership..can anyone clarify this ??

@Sheish - I think each profile on the xbox that wants to play online under their own name would have to have a live subscription. So yes, each of your sons would have to have their own live subscription associated to their profile.

It is possible for others to join in as guests in a game with a profile that has a live subscription, but those guests would not have a record of achievements/progress etc. which is the reason they will want a live account each.

Alternatively, buy a single subscription for a new shared profile for online play.

We all have our own profile for normal gaming then have a seperate one just for online play. We don't use it much anyhow because of xbox live always disconnecting every five minutes.
