With the amount of coverage it's getting you would think every other person had been a victim of it, but more people probably get mugged every day.

Typical tabloid hysteria...they'll be onto something new by the end of the week as usual.

Yup, I'm sure there was only one or two cases and the media picked up on it as the next big evil thing. Now that every chav's read about it in the Daily Mail, I'm sure they're all queuing up to happily slap somebody.

Not only has the media attention given a national forum to this silly little activity, it now also has a name and a clear definition.

It's like "video nasty" all over again.

I always like 'collateral damage'...

And as well as 'Friendly Fire' we have 'Blue on Blue Incidents'.

We have 'pacification' campaigns.

As for Happy Slapping - I have to say that I think if ignored it will pass in to history as this year's fad.

''Chavs'' won't be able to read the Daily Mail, it is beyond their reading abilities!

Apparently "Pre-emptive Strike" means "outrageous act of aggression leading to a short bloody war and a long and messy occupation" if you pronounce it in a non-US accent.

Apparently it's the lovely passtime of filming yourself beating someone up with the camera on a mobile phone and then sending it to your mates to show how "hard" and "street" you are.

Bloody chavscum.

Do most Americans imagine that we're all wandering around with home phones on a little trolley or other such contraption when we use the term: mobile phone ?;)
