maybe you have codecs missing...?

I seem to remember having suffered from this a while ago and finding out it was the regedit that was messed up.

Can't remember exactly what the fix was but I think it was from here?

First check the Volume its turned on or mute, if its on then i hope it will be problem with the sound driver. Reinstall the sound driver.

tried that sound ok on everything but media player ?

Last time I had a similar problem, it turned out it was because my speakers were plugged into the wrong port on the back of the pooter.

Check that.

are u running vista? if so are u sure u havnt turned down the volume for just the media player with the dynamic volume control vista has built in?
ive done it before myself :hihi:
if not try removing then re installing media payer and updating your codecs
