Hi

Some people I know are currently looking moving their business up near Purple. I've never been round there at that time of night, can anyone tell me what it's like? Is Purple still open, how is that new Chinese restaurant doing, what's club Zero like?

Thanks

Toby

The last time I looked it was closed down.

club zero is the best club in sheffield, its well furnished etc... not much trouble.

purple is rough as hell, but doesnt seem to have been open for ages.

gatecrasher is just down from these two and is full of your drunken students/scallies/teens, you name it. its not too bad trouble wise.

niche is further down still, that has a bad reputation.

the chinese that opened seems to be busy all the time, when we walk past.

I believe Zero has some of the best/meanest bouncers around.

republic harbours a fair few tw*ts - I've had trouble around there coming out of Zero.

One of Zero's most prolific nights is ending pretty soon as well, so there'll be something new twice a month on a saturday, who knows what the crowd will be like for that.

niche is probably too far down the hill for you to need to be worried, but it has a bad reputation as its a speed garage club (i.e aggresive little teenagers wearing baseball caps and driving souped up corsas)

The people I know are wanting to take Uropa as a comedy club, I was just a bit unsure as to whether their punters would want to be walking round there of a night?

would be great, yuou could probably have a deal going on with some of the nights to get discount flyers put on the door.

so people come to your comedy thing before going to the clubs :D

I reckon it's a good spot but the layout inside isn't the best for seating with a good view.
the place would need gutting and redesigning I would have thought.

AS far as I know Purple is not open anymore so I think the area itself would be fine for a full time comedy club!

I'd love to see another comedy club spring up in Sheffield. If you ask me it's exactly the type of thing Sheffield needs. I go to the Lescar (or did do, not been for a while) and it was brilliant.

Don't know how many punters they'd get in though!!

Not many!

There is big movement in the comedy scene in Sheffield, at last. There is the Comedy Festival in October, which will be good, then there are two new clubs opening. Gagging For It is to open at The Roundhouse, underneath Ponds Forge in October, then The Last Laugh gets it's new monthly home at The Memorial Hall from November.

Gagging For It will be a weekly club, Friday and Saturdays, thet'll provide 4 acts, good food, and a cheesy disco till one in the morning, so should pick up plenty of hen dos, birthdays and party nights out.

The Last Laugh will be on the second weekend of the month in the Memorial Hall, and will probably be a bit more sedate than GFI, but just as funny.
