Which songs do you enjoy listening to when 'The heat is on'. The kind of songs that you love to chill to at barbeques, garden parties or just on your own out in the sun!!

Songs that remind me of great summers of the past are:

ATB - 9pm till I come.
Hot in the city.
The power of love - Huey Lewis
Cruel Summer
Summertime - Fresh Prince
King of Rock & Roll - Prefab Sprout

& of course . . . 'Somewhere in my heart' Aztec Camera:

Summer in the city where the air is still
A baby being born to the overkill
Who cares what people say
We walk down love's motorway

Ambition and love wearing boxing gloves
And singing hearts and flowers

Chorus:
Somewhere in my heart
There is a star that shines for you
Silver splits the blue
Love will see it through
And somewhere in my heart
There is the will to set you free
All you've got to be is true

Excellent! bring on the heatwave!!!

i know that in a few years ill rememeber "gadjo - so many times" for this summer.

when i hear "the fugees - killing me softly", it always reminds me of coming home from holiday through the brecon beacons on a boiling hot september day in '96

:P LOL! It's ok to sing it out loud!! the summer is here, it's hot, sunny and people are just naturally happy!!:P

Here's another for you then:

Here it is the groove slightly transformed
just a bit of a break from the norm
just a little somethin' to break the monotony
of all that hardcore dance that has gotten to be
a little bit out of control it's cool to dance
but what about the groove that soothes that moves romance
give me a soft subtle mix
and if ain't broke then don't try to fix it
and think of the summers of the past
adjust the base and let the alpine blast
pop in my CD and let me run a rhyme
and put your car on cruise and lay back cause this is summertime

Chorus

Verse Two:

school is out and it's a sort of a buzz
a back then I didn't really know what it was
but now I see what have of this
the way that people respond to summer madness
the weather is hot and girls are dressing less
and checking out the fellas to tell 'em who's best
riding around in your jeep or your benzos
or in your Nissan stting on lorenzos
back in Philly we be ou in the park
a place called the plateau is where everybody goes
guys out hunting and girls doing likewise
honking at the honey in front of you with the light eyes
she turn around to see what you beeping at
it's like the summers a natural afradesiac
and with a pen and pad I compose this rhyme
to hit you and get you equipped for the summer time

  :P

Jon, Do you have the Jamies single? It was released on Pye around 1957. The song of course was resurected by Hobby Horse with their lead singer Mary Hopkins.

One of the tunes that always takes me back to a hot summer in my teens is "Summer the First Time" by Bobby Goldsborough. Not a classic - but gets me every time.

I seem to suffer some strange insanity when the sun comes out - my car suddenly turns into a gay disco! There was so much cheese in it yesterday the person I was taxi-ing nearly got out and walked!!!

That is so true!! why does this happen when the sun is out  :P

I think people are just reminded of the past and want to play all those cheesy old songs in the sun to cheer themselves up - and it works too. I got my old 'Cairo's' tape out yesterday and had it on in the car:-

Bobby Brown - 2 can play that game
Real McCoy - Another night, another day
U sure do!
Dreamer.
These sounds fall into my mind.
Turn on, tune in, cop out.
Let me be your fantasy.
etc . . . etc . . . . . etc . . . . . . . :P

Don henley (I think thats his name)- Boys of summer- just makes you think of driving around on a boiling hot day! Also anything motown makes me think of hot days! and, unfortunatly, that song by Ozone that goes MIIIYAAAA-HEEEEEEE, MIIIIIYAAAAAAA-HOOOOO etc. I was in Spain last summer and that song was everywhere! we went to a market square and the entire market started singing along to it!
