I've had Sky+ for a couple of months now, and I've noticed it seems to be skipping more and more on playback.

I was playing back something I recorded on Radio 4 today and had to delete it after ten minutes as it jumped every thirty seconds or so.

It doesn't do it on every recording, but usually on the ones I'm most looking forward to. Which is a bit of a bummer.

It's almost as if the hard drive needs defraging - but how would do you defrag a Sky+ drive without invalidating the warranty?

This (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=615619) thread might help (haven't read it all so not sure if it just affects Amstrad DRX280 models - do you have one of those...?).

Think the nature of the HD in these machines, you no need to defrag. But there must be a reformat option some where. There is one on the V+ box.

Found this link, but not tried it as I don;t have one.

i know with my box, if i unplug it and let it sit and reset for a minute that all stops. sometimes the box just needs to be completely powered off from time to time.

Yep. That's my model number. I'll be demanding a non-Amstrad replacement straight after Christmas.

Thanks so much for the link.
