We'd be happy to hear any suggestions.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
hitch_1980 19-12-2008, 15:50 You need a quiz night as well :)
I personally don't like the idea of having to get tickets in advance anytime I want to go to the pub on a match day or other special event. I suppose it means people buy more drinks when they pick them up but what if you decide at the last minute you want to go on a match day?
How close are you to the city centre? i'm looking for a (late) venue for a live gig and DJ's on Saturday 7 February, ideally in or close to the centre, and open until at least 2.
spooferman 03-01-2009, 18:51 The refit of the Beehive looks ok. Slightly cheaper on Beer prices but still OTT for an Estate Pub!
Now the Karaoke Guy OMG he is a laugh. Even before he talks; He does have some good gear but it’s the way he set up.
Setup on the Pool table uses it like a wall. Puts a set of old disco lights on the front. They flash so fast it feels like your on speed.
Funny bit the singer stands on the little change area the screen to the left and the singers have to face the wall. But the best bit if you don’t like what the DJ has on the Beehive has been fitted with its own unique cut of system. Just go to the loo and hit the button on the hand dryer or use a bandit. Cuts the power straight out take half the bar with it:hihi::hihi:
Dannibirdie 19-01-2009, 18:52 hi all
unfortunatly the hand dryer trick wont work anymore.
the electrics have now been sorted.
Food is starting to be served with the full menu starting next week. Great home cooked food ranging from, chilli and meat & potato pie to hot roast dinners and hot roast sandwiches.
The Beehive are currently looking for players for the football team, darts team and pool team. Come and sign up at the bar.
Disco & karaoke are now on a Friday night with Big Daz.
Bingo & quiz starting very soon so watch this space.
The drinks prices are very reasonable.
:-)
Danni x
p.s.
Daz has changed the set up for the karaoke. the lights are still the same and yeah he uses the pool table but the singers are facing the audiene now lol, not towards the wall x
Just to update you all...
The quiz at the beehive is now up and running, Wednesday nights from 9. The quiz is free, prizes are drinks and meal tokens that can be used in the pub.
Also starting next Wednesday will be bingo before and after the quiz, all money from the sale of the cards will be given in prizes.
Also, for all you singers out there, the karaoke & disco on Fridays is a good night, this starts from 8pm till 12am.
We'll also be starting with live music soon and I'll keep this thread updated with information.
Tempted to come and try the Karaoke one night.
spooferman 29-01-2009, 16:55 Mike good to see things are improving!
Shame about the hand dryers.it was gr8 for the chav traks and bad karaoke singers lol.
One in the gents still has the out order sign on it!.
Would be a good idea to get the poople table back in the corner near the fire doors. it will earn money rather that just the DJ stand
there are still some changes coming in the future regarding the pool table etc but this is a way off yet. The dryers are proving to be a pain but there is going to be some alterations to the gents toilets as we are having disabled facilities installed. Hopefully all new fittings and wiring will solve the dryer problems!!
spooferman 30-01-2009, 18:26 Need to get a temp methods of for the dryers H&S could shut you down for it
Danni
Glad you liked my singing, but how could anyone think it was my brother singing?

roughy101 05-04-2009, 15:58 we went in a couple of weeks ago and the food was shocking we had prawn cocktail starter full of water in the bottom the prawns had obviously been put on frozen and thawed out,the roast beef was like leather and the portions were very small,we waited over an hour for our starters to come and when we asked why it took so long we were told the kitchen was very small and it was difficult when they were busy.
The landlady was taking cutlery and stuff to tables with a little girl sat on her hip:confused:

Sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your visit, you should have mentioned to the staff if there was a problem with your food and it would have been changed if you were not happy.
We do receive lots of compliments from customers about the food but hardly any complaints, feedback, either good or bad is always welcome as we can make changes and make sure the same doesn't happen again in the future.
Hopefully, the visit you had wont put you off trying us again. The food kitchen hasn't been open long and we are still settling into a routine, there have been a few teething problems but this is improving by the week.

Hi,
It sounds like it was me that you spoke to! If it was the Sunday that I am thinking of we had been very busy with lunches, busier than anticipated and the chef had to cook another joint of meat and, which led to some delays, there was also a wait for people to be seated in the dining area because of the number of tables we have available. Once seated I can't remember anyone waiting a particularly long time for meals. Certainly, I can't remember people waiting an hour for starters.
We only serve food for 5hrs on a Sunday but sold over 80 starters and main courses that day. As Danni has said, we apologize if you were not happy with the meal you had.
We have also, hopefully rectified the problem of waiting times to be seated by changing the internal lay out of the pub and tables, this means we have more tables available for people who are dining.
If you do decide to visit again, you should see an improvement. I'd recommend visiting during the week and trying food off the regular menu as well. If you like lamb the shoulder of lamb and veg is really nice. Asthe food is home made and cooked to order you'll have to expect a wait though but it is worth it.

spooferman 07-04-2009, 20:39 Mike,
could you ensure that parents with children use the family room. would make much safer for them. and better for the drinkers
roughy101 08-04-2009, 20:33 every person eating in their was complaining that day,you are saying you did 80 starters that day is that why there was water in the bottom off the dish because the prawns had defrosted, and are you saying have the lamb because you agree the beef is no good,or come in the week because the food is better midweek because your not as busy.
If you were the large young barman /waiter working that day you know who we were because we did complain:confused:

Hi,
Unfortunatly, I don't remember who you are, sorry for this. I am recommending the lamb because it is a nice meal, and I do think the beef that is served is nice as well.
Just to confirm with your meal, we do ask people if they are happy with the meals, any people that are not happy can have their meal changed. I don't personally remember anyone saying that they were unhappy with their meals, just about waiting to be seated.
If you did say you were unhappy and said that to me then I apologise for not dealing with the complaint on the day. As I have said, I hope it hasn't put you off coming to the pub again, either for a drink or a meal.
Mike
When is the next comedy night planned for?
I went to the first night; 1 really pi$$ poor comedian from Leeds, 2 who were ok and an absolute star from the northeast. I missed the second night on June 6th, I was away on holiday.

Hi, i don't think the comedy nights will be taking place in the future. Sorry.
If your looking for comedy in Sheffield I'd reccomend abbcom at bar abbey or comedy club at city hall, both good nights.
