I have recently bought a flat screen computer monitor, and don't know how to dispose of the old one, is there any special place where you take them

if it works just offer it on here for free, someone will take it.
If not then you are not allowed to chuck it in your wheelie bin. Someone else wheelie bin perhaps!
Otherwise the tip has a place for electrical goods.

What make did you buy and are you pleased with it?

I've got a loft, garage and shed full of CRT monitors from 14" to 19". Never thought of throwing them away!

Anyone got a really really big wheelie bin I can borrow?

Hi silverfish
I got it from the computer shop at meadowhall retail park not PC world. it's a e-yama make ,not heard of it before, it's 17inch and cost £169, the speakers on it arn't very good ,I use my PC speakers anyway I'm happy with it.

if there's any one out there who want's it they can have it . it does work, but the screen has, what looks like finger marks on it from the inside, there is a program that sorts it out I think but I'm not very good, and I needed the space.

I think most of mine are 15", most work as well! Anyone wants one, pop round for one. I'm about 100 miles from Sheffield btw.

There's one 19", but that's worth a few quid.

Xidus, why don't you just use a remote desktop of some sort or a KVM for the servers? I use a combination of both for various machines here. 6 PC's, 2 desks and 2 monitors\keyboards\mice etc... Much easier than 1 for every PC.

I once met a guy who used to make music using old monitors - I forget the exact details of how it worked, I think because there is a small static charge across the screen, he would run his hands across them and this would be picked up by transducers somewhere else on his body which converted them to sound. I wish I'd got his details so that I could tell you all to send him your monitors (even most broken monitors were good for his purposes). All I remember is that I met him at the Foundry bar in Shoreditch, London.

More specifically, a monitor in good condition located inside Sheffield ;)
