I read, with a little nostalgic tear creeping into my eye, that DR Martens, doccas, are not being produced in Rushden, Northamptonshire, any longer. The manufacture is being handed over to a Chinese producer. This incidently has had a repercution on Rushden and Diamonds football club as the owner of Dr Martens factory was the club's main benefactor.

Is this the end of an era? What can the old firm of suede heads and bovva boys wear now? Any ideas as I need to buy them.

theres a shop at matlock baths that sells mainly docs theres loads of them - so you could always go and stock up

I have been trying to bed the pair i have on now for the last three months!!!....I have to keep wearing them in 2 hour stints.

I bought some very nice Doc Marten boots a month ago. They are made in China. I wore Northampton made DM's for years and initially shopped around for alternatives, but in the end I have given up and gone back to them, even though they are made in what is still a totalitarian state. I'm not sure if you can still get the 'classic' DM boot - mine are a 'redesigned' version. Sounds like heresy, I know.......but they are, as I say, very nice......... I like them.......and despite being a bit of a scruff, I am very picky about footwear..........sorry!
