View Full Version : The lack of sound from my pair of pc speakers
and there was me thinking I just had to plug the speakers in!!
I've bought a couple of pc speakers, plugged them into the line out socket at the back but can only hear faintly if the volume on the speakers and media player is janked up to max, can't be right.
When I plug them into the front socket, all is fine but only through one speaker!!
I've checked the soundman and all the volumes are okay, nothing mute, balance fine.
Help!
Dave
well thanks guys, I know this was probably a fairly trivial issue but I thought someone would at least bother to reply!
Maybe for my next post it'll be a complex, multi office, wireless solution required; that'll get me noticed!
Cheers,
Dave.
Or maybe no-one has any suggestions? Glad you're not bitter about the fact that no-one devoted their own personal time to sorting out your problems for you.
Hows this for a suggestion, bin your useless PC and buy a new one. Think that should sort it.
Maybe a chill pill's in order webkey :o
I had a similar problem when i set up my desktop. Tech help had me uninstall the sound drivers and reboot my PC. Windows XP reloaded them fresh and problem was solved
lol, that's what I love about this gritty forum, sometimes members spend more time composing sharp replies like that than actually dealing with the problem in hand, my bloody speakers! Never mind, I'll devote my own personal time to dealing with it................
Seriously though, the pc is **** hot but was a custom build so maybe something was overlooked but I was still a bit baffled with the speakers not going to plan. They're going back anyway as the missus says they should be silver to match the pc! I'm going to maplins so will grill the techie there about this.
Cheers,
Dave.
You could be right, if there's anything that pushes me over the edge it's a computer that won't play ball!!

If he doesn't sort it out straight away make sure you batter him.
For the record, if I had an answer for your original problem I would have replied. Unforunately, I didn't. I did, however, reply to your rant as I had something to say.
And your PC's not as **** hot as mine, my speakers work.

I fell off the chair laughing when I read that:D:thumbsup:.
I was just speaking out loud guys, nothing personal, it's been a long day................
Good advise re the sound drivers, appreciated.
Laters.
Nothing taken personally, all friends still.
parrotface 07-06-2005, 17:13 has anyone said that the speakers don't go in the line out jack ?
also it would sound like the connectors are incorrectly attached to the internal audio header on the mainboard. that is of course if the driver reinstall doesn't work
Agent Gypo 11-06-2005, 20:39 The sound on mine only comes out of one speaker. We've tried different drivers, different sockets and even different sets of speakers.... This only started when I put service pack 2 on.
Technology upsets me when it doesn't work.
look for upgrades for you mobo. mine was an onboard nvidia which rashed after updating windows drivers.the easiest option was stick a £5 pci card in away we went, just disable the onboard in device manager.
are your speakers powered or not webkey?
i have one system that will not output any sound unless the spkrs r plugged in.
sorry if these don't help.
